I participate in many forms of prayer, from traditional to church to meetings, the one thing I have come to realize is that if Jesus was here today in human form walking Grandmother Earth, he would not turn away any chance to sit and pray with anybody. Jesus would sit at a prayer meeting the same way he would sit in a sweat lodge the same way he would sit in church, that was Jesus's true message...we are all sons and daughters of God/The Creator.

It's good to understand not to force any belief or way of prayer on anyone; but yes, many native people who maintain their traditional ways also have a love and trust for Jesus; I came to the Medicine as a Christian (and a 'white man') and he accepted me that way, and blessed my family. People who understand the Bible know it says that God respects the ways of other peoples (not descended from or adopted into Abraham) who know the Living God.
oconnell471, Please respect that some native people pray to Jesus Christ in the teepee and that is because that's how they were brought up. This is not a spiritual genocide, it is a syncretic harmony between native and Christian spirituality. If you want to pray with peyote in meetings you can, if you want to pray with the cedar, the staff, or the bible you are welcome the same. The Native American Church is preserving the remaining native way of life, language, music, art, and spirituality.
This is not a hym it is a song. Peyote songs can have more than one language, and I have heard many a peyote song straight from the mouth of Lakota people praising Jesus Christ. Peyote does go with scripture for folks who abide by the crossfire fireplace ceremony in which the bible is present. If NAC isnt a church why is it called NATIVE AMERICAN CHURCH? Why are there baptisms, ordinations of roadmen, and prayer present if it isnt Church? I think you have misunderstood the NAC.
