If Connelly wants my vote next election he should support health care reform & not be a Blue Dog democrat. I voted him & am a very liberal democrat. Pg. 124: There shall be no administrative or judiciary review of a payment rate or methodology This is under the public option subtitle, so this section refers to the policies and methods of the public health option. And I know what youre thinking, this then limits the insureds rights. Nope.
Under the same subtitle, pg. 118, lines 14-22, The provisions of Medicare relating to access of Medicare beneficiaries to Federal courts for the enforcement of rights under Medicare, including with respect to amounts in controversy, shall apply to the public health insurance option and individual in the same manner as such provisions apply to Medicare and Medicare beneficiaries. You completely misinterpreted this section.
Pg. 341: In applying clauses (ii) and (iii), the Secretary may determine not to identify a Medicare Advantage plan if the Secretary has identified deficiencies in the plans compliance with rules for such plans under this part. The aforementioned clauses that the Secretary must apply in order to disqualify plans outlines the identifications of high quality plans. I cant go into every detail, but ultimately this section is to identify overspending in Medicare that could be cut.
Go back and read the two clauses, and read subparagraph B. Again, you have taken a paragraph out of context. To understand this section, you have to have read the entire Title, which outlines in specific details the identifications of a high-quality plan. Im beginning to think you did not actually do that.

The UK would actually be doing pretty well for itself if they dropped the royal family (it costs them 26% of all their earnings to keep those people... so yeah) Quite frankly considering all the medical tourism that Americans partake in.. its possible that our health care system could simply collapse from disuse.

The problem is that most legislators have not read the reform bill. And, if Americans knew what was in it they would not support it either. We will not have a health care choice. It is the government plan or a plan identical to the government plan (pages 16,17), thus there is no real choice. In addition the cost will be paid by the deaths of our elderly. Starting on page 424 is a plan to require end of life plan counseling with all medicare recipients every 5 years.

They are not competent to tackle something of this magnitude. No one is. Pages 16-17 of HR 3200 say no new health plans can be offered by private insurance companies. Do you understand? Perhaps they do not remember when the Clintons tried to take over healthcare in 1993 and the Republicans took over Congress in 1994. According to Quinnipiac University poll, by a 72-21 margin voters do not believe Obama will keep his promise to reform healthcare without adding to the deficit. By 57-37 margin, voters think healthcare reform should be scrapped if it will add to the deficit.

If Connelly wants my vote next election he should support health care reform & not be a Blue Dog democrat. I voted him & am a very liberal democrat. If he drags his feet when it comes to health care reform and other issues that important to me (LGBT rights & higher education), I probably will not vote in that election. Had "good" insurance and still couldn't afford to take care of myself. I'm now 34 without insurance and I have teeth rotting out of my face. I could die from this. I really don't want to die yet! Last week I was bitten on the hand by a stray cat... my hand is the size of a boxing glove.... THANKFULLY I was able to get my girlfriends antibiotics she was taking for a sinus infection, but they don't seem to be helping. I can still contribute to this society..... someone PLEASE HELP ME!

Hey mid. The UK health care system doesn't exclude or ration their services like we do (only rich people getting it is a ration btw). The UK would actually be doing pretty well for itself if they dropped the royal family (it costs them 26% of all their earnings to keep those people... so yeah) Quite frankly considering all the medical tourism that Americans partake in.. its possible that our health care system could simply collapse from disuse.

Is that why leaders from around the world come to our country for care? Is that why American health care is innovative than others? Americans have better survival rates than Europeans for common cancers. Americans spend less time waiting for care than patients in Canada and the U.K. Lower income Americans are in better health than comparable Canadians. Americans have much better access to important new technologies like medical imaging than patients in Canada or the U.K.
Now go take your garbage reform and shove it.

Health care is expensive here, and it's projected to get much worse over the course of the next 10-10 years. 14,000 people lose their insurance per day, that's a lot.
60% of bankruptcies are from medical bills, with some of those happening to people that DO have insurance.

Get this: maybe, just maybe, politicians base their personality on being "important" and "in charge". The best way to stay important is to stick with what those who support you say.
It seems like a bad sign that even members of the Democratic party are resisting this thing. I would like a decent Healthcare system, I don't know many who wouldn't, but the last thing I want is an expensive, inefficient, pile of crap, which I have to pay taxes on for 40 years before it collapses.

The current American system IS expensive and inefficient. Per capita, healthcare costs are double or even triple in the US. Had Britain or Australia or Canada spent that much per capita, there would not be NEARLY as many problems, and the problems us foreigners have now are not all that serious most of the time.
The healthcare industry is vastly profitable. Even today in a severe recession, it is very profitable. And who is paying for this profit? The American taxpayer.

I honestly believe this is a game they are ALL in on, including Obama - the heros advocate something we all want, the villains stand in the way, and the guys on the fence vacillate till the clock runs out, and everyone gets to tell their constituents that they tried really hard but not upset their donors. Health care protects our lives. We have a right to protect our lives via health care. We also have a right to the pursuit of happiness. Health care keeps us happy. We also have a right to liberty, and that means liberty to demand a better system of protecting our lives and keeping us happy through a better system of distributing health care to the American people. But this is REALLY about the health INSURANCE. Insurance companies fuck us in the ass with outrageous costs. That's who YOU defend.

Your right an education and health care arent rights they will not be garunteed by consitution, but last i checked the federal govenment doesn't run schools.. its the states that run schools
STATES can make up w/e they want on their bill of rights and can do w/e they want with their budget if thay includes libraries, roads, schools. ect ect then so be it. i am against the federal exspanspanion. i am not against govenment i am just nor real big on big federal govenment

Nobody requires us to buy insurance right now. I'm a young man. Since I won't be taking out of this Health care bullcrap for a while, it just isn't that important to me. But somehow I suspect that a lot of my money will be going to it soon enough...
I've got a different idea...take away the income tax. gut the government. Encourage people to take care of themselves (as any good leader should do)

The problem is that most legislators have not read the reform bill. And, if Americans knew what was in it they would not support it either. We will not have a health care choice. It is the government plan or a plan identical to the government plan (pages 16,17), thus there is no real choice. In addition the cost will be paid by the deaths of our elderly. Starting on page 424 is a plan to require end of life plan counseling with all medicare recipients every 5 years.

Second, Great now the republicans can't block votes or filibuster so we can get things done.

It's is going to happen. Of that there is no doubt. As the insolvency horizon approaches, the single payer efficiencies will become more and more obvious and imperative. It is the only solution.
Clinton's "failure" was because of a lack of impetus and lobbyist influence. Americans don't tend to think too far ahead. Soon, we will not have a choice.

Just stop buying health insurance. Major medical is enough. When I go to the doctor I pay the $30 to the doctor directly instead of paying $200 a month to an insurance company. No one is forcing you to buy health insurance, yet.
