I saw him live in 1991 and I must agree, he is the consumate performer,had everyone dancing.If you'll notice that he is playing a Gibson ES330 in most of his perfomances, not a Les Paul.

Yes! This man was a Terrific singer! Soul, Blues, Rock, Ballads -- he made smash hits in all these genres. And he's still powerful today. One guy, Van Morrison, is in the same league. Also a very, very underrated Les Paul guitarist. Easily the better all around artist compared to Elvis. Having seen both, no one ever bested Elvis, but Rivers came damn close.
