I like Damon but I also think that true love does NOT involve killing and threatening to kill the people your loved one loves. Damon may love Elena, but he has absolutely no respect for her friends and family. Elena would give up her life to protect them, while Damon himself would kill them if they so much as piss him off. Stefan on the other hand has not only fought vigorously to keep Elena safe and happy, but he's also always looking out for her loved ones as well. Now THATS true love.
