  • I currently have nylon bristle brushes but it seems that its more popular to use wire, does it make a difference? Should I purchase wire brushes? The nylons work well but it seems that the nylons are "rougher" (?) almost...sound texture-wise (does that make sense?). Can anybody help me please? Thank you.

  • Been drumming for 12 years and always did rock... just now getting into the mellow stuff. Just bought my first pair of wire brushes and broke them in the studio the first day.

    Thanks to this video, I realize I was playing them completely wrong.

  • ok this is the basic... right?? but can we make different movements, i mean any movement with the brushes; sort of square, triangle... (haha just kidding) as long as we are in time with music? or is there a specific rule to playing brushes?

  • Steve, you are one of the most articulate and helpful teachers I have ever met, not to mention one hell of a drummer and musician.  I met you when you came to the University of the Arts last year with the Army Blues and I was blown away completely. Keep making beautiful music and spreading knowledge man!
