I was wondering how could these people be scammed into buying property on this plot, did they not check it out before the purchase. I know sometimes in India you buy property before it is even constructed. Is that what happened here. Also what is the local or state government doing about this. Going through the legal system would take for ever so this will take direct govt action to resolve. And finally can someone tell me where I can find more information on the current status of this.

I am told that icici said - "we finance (in that order) Unitech/Dlf/Omaxe/parsvanath..­we do not finance Ansal"...there is complete abscence of Govt. regulation..which is why on 14/8/08, Belvederepark in GGAOn turned into venice!!

My collegues in the US recently saw in the news forged/fake documents prepared by Unitech for a property at Bangalore in India, which they claimed to be 10 acres which was forcibly occupied with local police help. Here is a warning to all NRIs/investors in advance to check the legal aspects of any builder, be it Unitech or not.

NDTV months ago were informed of a 150 crore land scam involving Unitech with the creation of bogus documents, deliberate misuse of a High Court Order, goondaism, destruction of private and public property in an attempt to illegally take over about 11 acres of land at Whitefield, Bangalore. Both civil and criminal cases are now pending against the company in the Courts.

All NDTV could do at that time was broadcast a program on how Unitech has grown into the empire it now is.

This video is simply brilliant. You've detailed almost all the flaws in the development. However I would strongly suggest that you take the help of a certified architect. Or better still contact the local government body that oversees all residential development. Get a certificate from them declaring that Unitech has not met the tall claims they have made. That should make your case really strong.

Unitech does not have the VISION or focus on customer delight, to understand that their reputation is built or destroyed by the END USER experience of the habitats that they are creating. Its the FINISHING stage of the project that MUST be executed by their OWN team/division..not some contracter they've squeezed on prices.

Anyway, they need a TOTAL reorganisation to do what needs to be done.

Once in they stick you with their own RWA (no kidding .. they own it) which unilaterally increases charges on electricity etc and if you protest they shrug as if to say "go to hell". The typical Indian builder-thief operates like so. In any city in India, these crooks proliferate. Chief attributes - dishonesty, corruption, threats to residents, and a pact with the devil.

Goel-Ganga, Pune is a typical example of how unscrupulous a builder can be. He even changes blueprints given to the corporation to cheat owners. Balcony collapses happen in Goel-Ganga properties. People die. This devil doesn't care.
