  • Absolutely f.... GREAT!!!!!! Thanks!! :)

  • the ORIGINAL VERSION WAS CALLED HEROIN!!!!!! is there really any question what drug it was about?. look it up the original to this song is heroin, you can even put alice in chains heroin here on youtube and this song will come up

  • I thought "Real Thing" was a reference to Coca-Cola's slogan: The Real Thing. Hence a tongue-in-cheek reference to coke.

  • "dont concern yourself and just give me another blast" refers to taking a hit of crack...the belt and under the hill are heroin references...those were his drugs of choice.

  • he used both smack and coke for a long time hes probly talkin bout both

  • to the ones wondering what the song is actually talking about, the title used to be "heroin" should clue ya in

  • "don't concern your self and just gimmie another blast" that is slang for give me a another hit of crack.... this is def about crack/coke.....goin down the steps on a white line straight to no where...miss ya layne

  • Its so interesting to realize how much this song evolved over before they recorded it for facelift! And no sexual chocolate at the end! :-(

  • R.I.P. Layne

  • he wanted it =/

the dude weighed 90lbs when he died, he was 6ft 1in

    shows what drugs can do!

  • 86 lbs

  • wow this is just bad to the bone.

  • awesome song.

  • At first, you may think it's about coke, but, I think it's actually about heroin. Coke normally costs $40 for a gram. He talks about "fifty bucks" which is the norm for a bag of smack. Also, he speaks of his belt (a lot of heroin users wrap their arm with their belt to expose the vein) and also "under the hill" which *I THINK* is slang for the heroin injection point. They would insert the needle "under the hill", a bump on their skin where the vein pops up. Just my $0.02. I'm probably wrong

  • sadly, u r correct my friend.

    peace...

  • WOW, I learn so much about this band and Layne on U-Tube!!! I used to think he started using in the 90's, but after hearing Mad Seasons "Wake up" and this, you know it was 86 or 87. Not that it matters, just, the whole story. What a gifted torchered soul. He shared it all with us.

  • I must correct you, he started cocaine when he was 16!!in 1982

  • no he didn't. Layne didn't start coke until the Facelift days. And that is from numerous people who actually KNEW him.

  • @Nitrousoxide2k 50 bucks for a bag of scag? in what universe? Ten bucks....and the price has been pretty consistant since the late 70's...

  • @Nitrousoxide2k Eh, I've thought about that, but the line "even if you say one more I won't leave you alone." Heroin you can do a shot and be straight for hours, coke you do a line or take a hit and your fiending again in 5-20minutes, begging for JUST ONE MORE. Definitely think the songs about coke. Layne was into both coke and H so.

  • What a voice... RIP Layne!

  • I fuckin love this song!

  • WOW! Niceee footageee :p

  • what the fuck.. pl?

  • Man some rare footage we have here! Thanks man!

  • Coke is it!
