Have to agree all the talented people do seem to be exiting the stage of life ..sad because today most of it is rubbish there are some exceptional talents (susan boyle for instance ) but where are the singers who can hold a melody, where are the actors with star quality i am sorry to say cant think of any...hope they are all awaitin in heaven somewhere we'll never see their like again.....
This Liberace series was Red Skelton's 1969 summer replacement [Tuesdays, 8:30-9:30pm(et)], taped in London and originally shown on the ATV network in England {ITC made a deal with CBS and Skelton to telecast it in the U.S.} .
you guys were so lucky to have had talented people like this on tv, now everthings just the same crap all the time, the only talent on tv is singing and most of its crap too. Tv`s going out the window.
Did his fingers actually hit those keys - LOL! Liberace was trully an amazing performer and his piano skills were a god given talent that will never be replaced. I also miss those days when TV was entertaining by performers like Liberace based on Talent - not by skinny, sexual bodies that look good - but have no talent.
I totally agree with you. When I was growning up there was quality shows on. I even remember when having a day off of school either from a holiday or during the summertime there was something called "Ben Hunters Movie Matinee" I would watch old movies. There was also some other guy but I can't remember his name..He used to usually play a Popeye cartoon afterwards. He'd have some good movies on as well.
I really miss these old variety shows. There used to be a time when television presented some actual culture. Real, genuine high culture. Everything has become so dumbed down, turning everyone into stupid peasants.
This is such a time capsule of a lost era, and I really miss that. I miss authentic showmanship and real musicians playing live on television. Instead, we're stuck with robotic Barbie and Ken dolls.
i totaly agree, and the music ..... dear lord i wont get started about the music that is on tv and what people think a "performer" or "artist" is. virtuosity (i hope thats a word) is seemingly undesireable in popular culture.

Tv is really rubbish just now, it keeps getting worse.
This is what tv needs to be like, real talent.

Agreed. Who today could - pardon the cheesy pun - hold a candle to Liberace?
danielthomas 4 years ago
I'll say one word to that - Amen.
Entertainment today is all about the "performer" getting attention to the "performer".
Back then, it was about the "performer" giving attention to the "performance." This is true entertainment right here.
RIP Liberace. You are sorely missed.
