  • i love this scene, but the are romani are they?

  • @QuintinPenola They are Romani people. They are direct decendants from the gypsies of India.

  • @TheLampDancer the must have mingled and mixed with the local epyptians i search and can find info about ppl from india in eqypt

  • Come on... A curse? Let's not start believing fairy tales...

  • greaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat

  • bellissimooooo......

  • What is that wonderful stringed instrument the men (and little boy) are playing?

  • @skeletonmom it's called " rababa " and it's like the violin

  • @cheguevara34 - Thank you.

  • Loved this music. Made me want to get up and dance!!! Yip, yiip, lalalalalalala!!!

  • Real ETHNIC Gypsies are actually originally from north western India.

Modern Linguists and Ethnologists have pretty much pinpointed their Language as originating from Northern India, and it is related to Indo European (Aryan) languages spoken there, although Roma has been much altered over time.

Also, Ethnically, their DNA has been pinpointed as having its roots in this region

  • @luuzann Rajasthan, no? The term gypsy is no longer used....Romani!!!

  • @luuzann great... but according to their own legends they say they did something so awful they were cursed to wander the earth with no home of their own and that other people see them as bad luck...... wonder what they did....?

  • @Alusnovalotus I suspect it is that they were labeled as outcaste by other Indians....and the wrong they did in other countries was that they were foreign and different/BEAUTIFUL appearance did not help them. :)

  • @Alusnovalotus That is a myth. It's a flokloric legend. They are nomadic peoples of Egypt. Their original roots are in India.

  • @TheLampDancer uh huh... so why are so few treated equally anywhere with the exception of egypt and maybe the middle east? they can't even settle in india!?!?! besides, these legends have thier origins with the rom people not their neighbors

  • @Alusnovalotus we really don't know why the gypsies left India. It was never documented well. We know they traveled to europe and to North Africa. The dance is the oldest there is though.

  • @TheLampDancer besides, every legend has a grain of truth to it....

  • @Alusnovalotus true very true. But I don't believe they are cursed people. I think they traveled for political or famine reasons. Who knows and who cares at this point. All we know is they are mysterious people of the Eastern cultures.

  • @luuzann Yep! You are correct...that is the point of the movie...not sure why others would disagree except for prideful reasons :)
