I like this music very much! It really sets my mood and makes me think of how I would feel if I was alone and lost in my own world away from everyone else. That's what this movie was about. Seymour Parrish (Robin Williams) was practically alone and felt lost in his own world from everyone else. He had no friends and no directional purpose in life. This is my favorite music piece out of all of them in this movie.
I know. I don't why someone hasn't uploaded the movie as well. But oh well. And your welcome. If I do have a suggestion I will let you know. Now right now, but I will think. haha
Couldn't have said it better myself matt. Each change in the chord sequence is one of sadness, creepiness, aloneness and spacious emptiness.
We don't like the Cy's wickedness, but we can't help but empathise with the part of him that's human and lost with his demons. What of little Cy when he was growing up and couldn't get a girlfriend like the other guys..?
Sexual molestation is implied as the reason at the end where he's being interviewed in custody. He breaks down and cries.
All he wanted was to have a nice home and a loving upbringing. He thought he'd find this with the family-in getting closer; wanting to be a part of their Christmas gathering. The husband 'betrayed' him.
Everyone else seems to have a loving family and relationships, but him. He really feels justified in his anger. This is the way with all disturbed people.
@melonmasta Well that he was made to do things as a child he didn't want to do, and I suppose ended up acting them out on others who he hated-as his parents did with him.
What we're seeing in the movie IMO is the hatching of an evil demonic possession as it comes to fruition in him. This is why I think the nightmare blood scene is so spot on-he's starting to see that identity growing within him but doesn't know how to separate from it and become young Cy again.
I must add, I picked up on the lighting techniques; how they bring everything out in SavMart as being almost otherworldy (how Sy sees it). At the end of the DVD there's a fabulous interview with the makers where they talk at length about special effects (take a look at the credits!!), and the classic shot of his fantasy receiving presents by the Christmas fire. It's so brilliantly done, but I think Robin is taking the mick out of him; showing us how pathetic he's become. Subtle comedy!
Pulsar, you summed up the whole film exactly the way I would! You are so right about the lighting in this film. Some of the most suttle soft and moody I've ever seen. For what is a low budget film, they put every penny on the film.Even Robin Wiliams worked for less than what he usually gets!Another piece of music I really liked from near the ending called "The Chase"
Yes they had two distinct lighting styles-one for his work and one for home..and it really worked didn't it! I was drawn in right from the beginning where the photo process is outlined. All the details are bought out for you brilliantly.
That Robin worked for less for the opportunity to work on this film puts him a cut above the rest in my opinion ;) He wasn't the star, he used his talent to tell the story.

i've ever seen,Robin Williams is absolutely excellent in it.
If he didn't receive an oscar for his acting in this i'm surprised.
and i think this music is fantastic i don't have a bad word to say about
movie. In fact the word excellent is too small a word to describe it.

You're right,Pulsar. You really do feel for him at times. And as far as why he is the way he is,and we don't know why, makes it even more dark for me.

@mattpayne1972 at the end it tells you he was forced into child pornography

@Pulsar205 I think at the end of the movie, he insinuates that he was photographed in sick disturbing ways, so....yeah, no girlfriends for him.
