  • Damn, what a beautiful table! I like my Bang and Olufsen RX-2 though. It may not have the same sound quality, although it sill looks like a million bucks!

  • What can I say.... "Vinyl is analog, it sounds better than digital because the human

brain is analog..." This is something new for me... You are the best!, I think I waste my time learning about D/A conversion, The Nyquist Theorem, electronic circuits, etc... You have discovered a new truth! There's another one... Tubed DACs... You are the best! Tell us, where did you learn that extreme ideas?

  • Whats the song thats playing now then? I like it!

  • can i pay you to come over and listen to records?

  • So many comments wow! Well..

    The facts are:

Madonna is a popular artist, a legent, and im not into pop.

Vinyl is analog, it sounds better than digital because the human

    brain is analog.

Digital sound converted to analog is getting dangerously close to

vinyl, using tubed dacs and cd players.

It is only worth buing a music isntrument like that if one

possesses gear of similar quality, and our friend does.

Nice spinner man, i wish endless auditions...

  • theres a German brand called Gradiente i remember the model RPII of this brand the tonearm of this turntable looks same thing

  • the sound quality looks like my Hi End Audio Engine vacuum tube Phono preamp

  • How many hungry children could you feed with what you spent on the cart alone? 50 maybe 100. Awsome ........lets starve some more children!

  • Comment removed

  • @pitchingwedge1 You should therefore sell your car, your TV, your iphone, golf clubs etc and send the money to these starving children. Vinyl is about having a bit of luxury at the end of a long day, if you work hard and can afford it why not! I can't get one of these yet but will soon because capitalism makes it possible.

  • @1000ncj Luxury at the end of the day hey. How about having something to eat at the end of the day,or potable water to drink? Music is about art and expression not fidelity. Its about the message not how much guitar you can hear.Dont get me wrong I am an artist and I love clean sound to but where does it end? I mean isnt $500 table enough? Is this what you live for?Have you arrived?Capitalism means the one with the most controls and wins...thats not fair. Neither is putting your head in the sand.

  • @1000ncj And how much can this person really know about true art. THEY ARE PLAYING MADONNA FOR CHRISTS SAKE!.For the sake of the world and yourself....please find your heart and give if you can. Peace

  • @pitchingwedge1 Perhaps I already give to charity and have been doing so for many years? Anyway, lets get back to the program! :)

  • Colored vinyl - ungh

  • Lovely deck. I bought one back in 1990, with any extra tonearm for 78's. Apart from a new stylus and having it converted from 240 volts (UK) to 110 volts (Canada), it has worked faultlessly ever since. A good purchase and well worth the money.

  • Any mechanical engineer will tell you that a series of spinning weights is inherently an unstable design unless everything is matched and positioned "perfectly". Don't shoot the messenger.

  • the reson i wolud not have a macine like this is because it is belt drive. why have belt drive when you can have direct drive? i dont get it.

  • @thereelmaster direct drive motors produce a faint noise from what i understand. thats why any audiophile system is ALWAYS belt drive. direct drive is only really necessary for dj's anyways.

  • what kind of system do you have? sounds great.

  • To afford one of these I would do just about anything. This is the sweetest piece of machinery in the history of electronics. Simply magnificent and better than sex!

  • This turntable is TRULY a WORK OF ART! GORGEOUS!! Sure beats my ugly ol' plain-jane AR, but my kids can run around the room while I play it & the needle & platter just bounce around without losing a beat! ;)

  • Jamas habia visto un tornamesa de este tipo muy interesante, me gustaria conocer mas de esto, gracias

  • what about the price of the turnie?...new car???or house???

  • Why did you say that your turntable plays sorry from madonna? Its not that track!

    By the way, nice turntable

  • @amanvisebre Because that was the really audio when it was originally recorded and uploaded. However, Warner issued a copyright violation so the audio was removed and I replaced it with this instead.

  • @distortedvisi0n Wht copyright violation? Were you or anyone else making any money by having it on YT with the Modomma audio? F Warner!!

  • @distortedvisi0n BTW, if anything, it was FREE advertisement!

BBTW, nice TT. A Clockwork Orange?

  • @distortedvisi0n i say all this copyright stuff is censorship of free speech- the ability to put out whatever you want on the airways... Why would they issue a copyright if it's being visually played from a vinyl record? Apparently on youtube Corporate interests > civil rights

  • @distortedvisi0n

In my opinion this pink edition of Confessions Vinyl sounds no better than crappy MP3. Really bad mastering or even mixing!

  • Some turntable designs like this one just leave you wondering. Why would anyone use a series of spinning weights to add rotational inertia. This design is inheriently unstable unless the weights are identical and precisely spaced. Even then, total stability is not guaranteed . I guess its all about "the look".

  • @bahamabrz But then again, maybe it isn't;

"The most obvious task of a turntable is to keep the record at a constant and precise angular speed."

" The GyroDec and Gyro SE employ a single-thickness acrylic platter, loaded with the gold-plated brass weights which over time have become Michell's signature. Once up to speed, and aided by the low-friction bearing, the platter only wants to maintain its motion, and not much extra input from the motor is needed."

  • one day, i will own a michell gyro, would be a killer upgrade to my weak ass rega p2.

  • You sir, just blew my mind.

  • I like the pink record.

  • It's not Madonna. It's the musicians who played the music for her, without whom she would not have been noticed at all.

  • can one scratch and beatjuggle with it?

  • how ridiculous - the recording companies should realise that the sound is crap on youtube, but if people who are interested hear a disc they might like - even thru the murk - they might go an buy it

  • @potatomasher100 very valid point indeed

  • Hi there, what is this audio name?

  • Hmm, no wow or flutter. Sounds good. I looked the price of this turntable, $2,495.

  • @Aliendear you are not listening to the turntable in this video just looking at it with some other music, digital no doubt recorded over it

  • @dharn1 You're fucking mad.

  • Sounds fantastic! Haven't heard this Madonna track before, but I love it already. If only all the Madonna tracks I've heard sounded this great!!

  • one of the sexiest turntables ive ever seen

  • i am thinking of upgrading my rega p2 to a mitchell tecnodec. i have heard only good things about them. gyrodec is a little to steep for me.

  • what is this song if you could tell me please :)

  • SORRY!

It is clearly written on the video's title!!!

  • @tittu82 sorry im retard i cannot see it, can you tell me please?

  • High-end audio, as with most everything else in life, is more subjective than objective....Of course it is interesting that at the end of the video, as the stylus is starting on the lead-out groove, the music continues or play. Was this a case of YouTube audio swap because Madonna is with Warmer Music Group and WMG frowns on use of their artists music on YT?.

  • @THEmotownboy Its not the original audio. I had to do a audio swap because Warner asked YouTube to remove it.

  • @distortedvisi0n

    what is this audio?

  • @THEmotownboy

".......as the stylus is starting on the lead-out groove,......"

    There is no "lead-out groove".

A vinyl recording has ONE groove only.......from start to finish. :)

  • Comment removed

  • Yo that vinyl player is sweet....I want Two NOW.

  • anyone who says this is a waste of money is just bitter that they dont have the bucks to buy one. end of.

  • You are absolutely correct!!! I cannot believe the ignorance of a comment like that. I am in the music industry and the fact is Vinyl sounds better and a VPI sounds better than a Sony and a SME sounds better than a VPI. If you do not have the experience with both than keep your comments to yourself. I would never tell you a Toyota is better than a Ferrari but then again some things should be obvious.

  • I agree to an extent that some are looking for the ultimate sound rather than the music, but I would like to say that, Given the money, I would love a good t/table! My current one is borrowed & worth about £700 It plays MY music very well. & if Mr Lottery pointed the finger at me, I would not even think twice about spending more on cables than you would on seperates! You get what you pay for & this really does include T/Tables! Just to discust you, Lottery win= £100,000 Hi-Fi!

  • its not cheap but you have to admire the craftsmanship that has gone into this turntable. simply stunning anyone that says otherwise should go and listen to a turntable like this and i promise you you will amazed by the sonic performance that they give.

  • geez you just dont have a clue do you?go right ahead and buy your cds bro,if it makes your little mind happy......

  • Shit! what a great machine to play vinyl! but, man, Madonna?? It's like give a cab driver a Roll Royce!

  • that makes no sense

  • Comment removed

  • this sounds fantastic, just listened to an lp12 on youtube and it was no were close to the fidelity of this gyrodeck.you must be very proud of this set up.

  • oh god, here we go again. How the fuck can you compare TTs on Youtube? Unfucking believable!!!

  • Thank you for your comment. However i dont like bad language. This is a NEW Computer and i play thru the USB to a Digital to Anologue Converter and onto my Amplifier and Speakers,I can here everything with this set up.Believe me this is beter than lp12 .But i would i urge buyers to auditon with the actual turntable set up in the room ,for a true idea before paying. This is VERY IMPORTANT.Now can we just enjoy the lovely tone of this Gyrodeck please?

  • Vinyl is analog and anything from a computer is digital so you are not hearing the TT no matter how new your PC is. Plus you're going from A to D and who knows how it was recorded. Sorry, there is no way you have any idea on how it sounds from "Youtube"

  • Thank you for your reply.Looks like we might have different opinions on this. The turntables we talk about are excellant, but were in a digital age.Detail and imaging is the name of the game nowadays.Have you heard a decent, new top of the range pc?Thru a dac ,good amp and very revealing speakers?Thought not..Your techno speak wont dispell what is plain and very easy to distinguish.gyrodeck sounds are more true to life wether listening on anologe or recreated for our digital age...End off...

  • @Pedro4k I always tell that to just about everyone but they don't believe me, idiots.

  • @Pedro4k ...hi der...anything we hear from the speaker is analog...digital is always converted to analog (converted back to analog)..in order to hear it...

    anyway...anydigital sound sucks...in analog u feel the music...tenks

  • @07808254140

Firstly, you don't "here" things, you hear them. Secondly, USB to DAC is typically worse than an internal soundcard (ie Audigy).

Of course people can't differentiate between turntables on YouTube. It's impossible. The sound is made digital from an analogue source, compressing it and making it lossy.

It is, however, possible for us all to enjoy the Gyrodeck through video. Folks, wipe the drool off your keyboards. It is truly a work of art, and marvel of audio. :)

  • such a waste of good tecnology...

  • What's the name of this song? The replacement one, not the original, not the Madonna one.

  • The bass is too much. Shoot the engineer and give the piano player the job

  • The Gyrodec is some machine .

  • I would greatly appreciate a link to this track...A easy mix...(grins in anticipation)

BTW: is this YOUR deck?! Like good LORD dude why not just head to a pawn shop and scrape up some good tracks?! Like it nonetheless...

  • i'm looking for a cheap turntable,my budget is about $50..

Where can i buy this Gyrodec? is it worth the $50?

  • Buy a NAD5120. That probably fits your budget and it's a great value for the money. It's pretty noisy, because it's not shielded, but glueing aluminum foil to the inside helps a lot.

  • Hello !

Can you tell me title of music you added on this video ?

    Thanks !

  • Hello!

Please send me the original video. Thx.

  • $2,500

That's the price I found one at.

Which is pretty sickening in light of what you could buy with that. Like some good fucking music

  • are you sure this is madonna? which version of sorry is this, is it only available on the vinyl copy?

  • No it is not Madonna! I had to remove the original audio because Warner issued a copyright infringement notice. Send me a message and I will give you a link to the original video.

  • @distortedvisi0n

please can you give me the name of this artist ?

  • I'm jealous of your turntable, i wish i could afford it by the way how much?

  • Hah, you're funny.guys..

What's the sense of playing a DIGITAL MASTERING recording (the pressed also on vinyl) with such a good turntable?!?

  • the vinyl and turntable bring out the best in any recording over cd, digital or whatever..

  • I used to own the same turntable and arm combo before downgrading to a Roksan Radius V. Biggest hi-fi mistake I've made yet. On the bright side though, its now been replaced with an Origin Live Aurora Gold and Conqueror Mk III arm which sounds better than the Michell ever did :)

  • why don't you play something from the first century kabukie

  • nice track & mashine

  • Nice, what's the price tag?

  • What a wild looking phonograph player you got!!!!!!!!! WOW!!!!!!!!

  • Love this track !!!! ABSOLUTELY !!!!!!

  • The track is called Jazz Experimentation

from a website called Musicshake. (You can find it if you Google it). It is unreleased and from an unsigned artist.

His username on Musicshake is: ShKahh.

  • tha turn table is sooo badass!! love the way yoy can see it all...

  • Warner issued a copyright claim and so Youtube removed the original audio. If anyone wants a link to the video with the original audio (in high quality) please message me.

  • hello, how are you, this video was great with the original audio form madonna, please send me the link, thaks

  • Sounds great!!! Are you using an Ortofon Kontrapunkt?

  • Yes it's an Ortofon Kontrapunkt B.

  • I was thinking of purchasing a pair..... What is your overall impression because I am unable to Audition one here in Houston.

    Thanks.

  • You took that video with a nokia n95 cellphone? And dubbed the sound from your phono preamp? very nice.

  • Yes video was recorded with a Nokia N95 and audio was recorded from the tape out of the amplifier and using an Edirol UA-5 external soundcard.

  • hi mate you no that trake dubbed over madonna whats it called thank you steve its great

  • Musicshake - Jazz Experimentation

  • hi mate were can i get it from or can i buy if from you steve

  • hey vinyl lovers check out my video (the Scientist by coldplay on vinyl)

    watch?v=iNWtQJeUeBk, thanks for posting

Of Course it ain't the big deal like yours haha

  • I had to replace the audio because Warner issued a copyright claim.

  • You know, this song always bored me until I heard it on vinyl...the bass just sounds so much warmer, I like this song now but only when I hear it here! It's too "crisp" on the CD

  • Love your system and Michell is just the most wonderfull Deck ever, posted you my video response for my video showing my Michell Orbe ^.^

  • Looks gorgeous! Sounds perfect.

  • che piatto della madonna!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • It takes great talent and an equally able machine shop to make that platter!

  • my hifi setup at the moment is Roksan kandy LIII amplifier, naim cd5i cd player, roksan rokone speakers and roksan radius nima arm turntable

  • but remember if this was payed off of a crappy hifi rack, then it wouldnt be as good....so the next question is... what rack?

  • The rack is by Optimum International.

  • what is for you the best compagny of turntable should i buy to begin

  • Rega P2 or Pro-ject Debut III are both great starter decks.

  • I'd go with the Rega over the Project any day.

  • Seems a shame to be playing Madonna through a setup like that ;)

  • One of the best looking decks to grace the island of Blighty. Even though i have an oracle + souther combo i still love this deck. Its the "super model" of tables.

    Smokin++

  • Gyrodeck = great sound and looks, are they still around? Reminds me of the Oracle Delphi TT from Canada.

  • Yes! Google "Michell Engineering". Sadly John Michell died in 2003. Tragic loss.

  • omg awsome set up mate tasty

  • Well it's not surpising that what you hear isn't what you expected. Firstly, the video was not intended to demonstrate the audio quality of the turntable but to show it in operation.

The reason the sound quality is poor is because YouTube process it so that its 64kbit/s mono. It has nothing to do with the hifi. I thought that this was obvious...

  • From the YouTube entry on Wikipedia:

"Standard quality YouTube videos contain an MP3 audio stream. By default, it is encoded in mono at a bit rate of 64 kbit/s sampled at 22050 Hz, giving an audio bandwidth of around 10 kHz. The default bit rate delivers passable but not hi-fi audio quality."

  • well said

  • no mate it youtube only plays out 128 bit get your self the same set up and you will hear quality trust me mate

  • nice turntable how much did ya pay for that

  • The RRP prices are:

    Michell Gyrodec SE - £1036

Origin Live Silver tonearm - £600

    Ortofon Kontrapunkt B cartridge - £800

This is not what I paid though. I bought mine through a close friend who owns a London hi-fi shop so I got them at close to cost price.

  • Nice turntable, but poor value/price ratio.

  • Was that 33 1/3 or 45? Looked like 33 1/3.

  • oh my god! i love it i wanna one like this!

  • WOW! That Turntable Looks AMAZINLY EXPENSIVE!

  • Is Madonnas Vinyl master seperatly or is it just a digital master they use?

  • nice table!

  • Music the way it should be played... ANALOGUE!

I'm also looking into getting that Ortofon Kontrapunkt b cartridge you have there.

  • super tourne disque !!! ^^

  • Awesome audiophile turntable i must say :), one quedstion though, where do you buy records with such a modern music on?

  • You can things like the Madonna LP anywhere like Amazon. For hard to find records if you can't find it on Gemm then forget about it!

  • this is the best looking turntable. A work of art.

  • I have to agree with u its a work of art! In fact, this video inspired me to create my own!

  • Holy crap I never seen a turntable like that in my life!

  • The Madonna spoils it a bit for me too but I think we all have some guilty pleasures. I mean I'm not going to admit I bought James Blunt on 180g vinyl...Oops. I'm planning on buying one of these so they better sound as good as they bloody look!

BTW "you cast pearls before swine"-hilariously relevant!!

  • For everyone that has been complaining about the Madonna record. The main reason was the pink vinyl. There's no pleasing some people!

  • Now I can't get this song out of my head!!

  • Great deck....needs the Tecnoarm to really sing though....Michell Engineering, great company...MADE IN BRITAIN.

  • Do you think the Technoarm is really that much better than the Origin Live Silver? I'd assume it would be a close call.

  • No I think the Origin Liver Silver is better. But..I wish I had SME IV.

  • if a song like this is noise for you i would like to remember you that the lovin' spoonful in the '60s made a song where they included the noise of some works on the road in the middle of the song (it was summer in the city). Anyway great record player.

  • Nice moving parts, check out LP12SE it kicks arse, very real :-), nice vid BTW

  • To listen to this kind of noises you don´t need a turntable that good.A cd will be more than enough

  • how am i suppose to appreciate this on a computer? you cast pearls before swine. thanks. and the record does suck. i am embarressed to say i just had my sme 3000 tone arm rewired and stylus on V15typeIV replaced, on thorens td 160bc mkII. which is nice enough but geee

  • VTR on the STC states that bolicity of the rise places this mass slightly below %D-Min on the Paramax chart.

  • is that a roksan cd player i see? think i'll post my set up soon. i have a Gyrodec, cyrus III amp, and magnaplanar SMGb electrostatic speakers.

  • T+A D10 CD / SACD player.

  • why are you playing such a crime on such a classic deck, see the original in clockwork orange.

my friends dad designed them, still has the plans for the gyrodec

  • what is that?? is that custom made

  • Lovely kit.

  • Hi whats the rest of your setup? amp, speakers..

  • My God.

  • Nice

  • Most interesting (in a VERY good way) turntable.

I'll bet it sounds about as good as it looks ... maybe better.

I'll bet the posts on the bottom of the table are supposed to provide for greater rotational stability.

  • Make a post on Vinyl Engine. I'm sure you know that website. I really not sure because the specifications of your system look pretty good to me. I'll ask my friend who owns Audio Origami to reply to your post - hes the best person to ask. What amp do you have?

  • chears . musical fidelity a32 driving a pair of gale 401s ( drives them pretty well considering there notoriety) pretty neutral sounding which i prefer as i only play vynil. my wife thinks im a bit of a nerd when i showed her your upload, i got a bit exited. ha!

  • calling all nerds

  • It's an Ortofon Kontrapunkt B.

  • im useing dynavector dx 20 high output version with se/rb300, but sounds dull through mm in my amp the detail comes back on mc but the levels are way to loud .any recomendations?
