@Christian9484 It increases overall accuracy and speed. If you shoot the portal and then jump, you can miss it. if you shoot the portal at the last second, you're pretty much guaranteed to go through and you don't have to waste time aiming the portal gun or your jump.

Yes, this is in fact available for the 360. That's actually what I do all of my Portal 2 stuff on. Most people prefer to play it on the PC, since you can be a whole lot more accurate with a mouse than you can be with analog sticks. (I think that's why, at least.)

For the later fling, you don't need a platform for that. You can gain (theoritically; in portal 1 there's resistance so you don't reach an infinite speed) infinite momentum with two portalable floors next to eachother but with a height difference easily. It's a fairly common fling for portal 1 maps.
