i got this game for chrismas back in 2000 and i played the fucking shit out of it as a kid. bar none; there was no other racing game that even came close to this. i also remember this game being FUCKING HARD at some times, especially with the license tests, but still, makes me wanna hook up my old ps1 and play this for days.

They should make a Gran Turismo 1 anniversary edition where it's all the same cars, tracks, and menu's but with updated graphics, a multiplayer, and an option that lets you switch the graphics from the updated ones, to the graphics from the original in 1998. WHO'S WITH ME???

More tracks, more races, more fun. No stupid online shit. No stupid fucking patches to mend the shitty errors. It's a perfect game as is. No waiting to buy a car when we want instead of waiting ages to appear.

@shadowhexogram Thats part of the reason why it was originally cancelled later on. Back then, a large majority of people only had 56k modems and dial-up, which meant, for the videos to actually play, they had to be compressed to tiny viewing screens which often went out of sync. They were considered too "ahead of their time"and were cancelled.

GT2 pushed the ps1 to its limits and then some.....its incredible that these kind of graphics could be displayed by a 2mb, double speed cd rom machine.....hats off to Polyphony Digital for squeezing every bit of juice out of the humble Playstation. I remember buying Sega GT (pile of crap game) for the Dreamcast and the cars looked like hi-res toy cars in comparison....GT2 had the gritty low res but more realistic looking cars. Playing GT2 today is as enjoyable as it was then.

The only Gran Turismo game I've ever played was Gran Turismo 4. This game was awesome because this has the Renault Espace F1 and Vector M12. Both of those cars kick ass! Too bad those weren't in Gran Turismo 5

@banxwashere You know, I think the framerate in the first Gran Turismo WAS a bit faster. The graphics in the second one look like they tried to add more detail, more to it. But you're right. The resolution itself was a little better in the first one.
