  • this brings back memories

  • This brings back alot of memories

  • Which year was it first shown on tv?

  • @VAGGOSATH

    1973

  • @VAGGOSATH - In the UK, it was first shown on BBC around January 1975 and probably the same time in the other European countries it was sold to.

  • All the Characters in Filmation always looked the same because they were, they just re-used the cells.

  • @JENDALL714

they didn't reuse the cels, they reused their rotoscopes which are their characters' movements. That's why characters from 1967 (Aquaman), 1969 (Fantastic Voyage), 1973 (Star Trek), 1976 (Tarzan), 1979 (Flash Gordon), and 1983 (He-Man) all have some of the same movements, such as running or swimming.

  • I watched this show for a long time without realising that little Ben was blind.

  • Boy, if I had known I could find old shows on YouTube when I was obsessed with Lassie a few years ago I would have been hyperexcited!

  • Check out my rendition of the 1967 Lassie Theme on strings!

  • Comment removed

  • I remember this show! I was only 5 years old when this came out!

The theme song was stuck in my heroic head for many years, until YouTube helped me remember this television classic!

    DANGER WOMAN

  • Was this made by Filmation ? (the shitty animation but half-decent backgrounds are sort of a clue).

  • @custardaghost

Filmation, 1973, while they were still in their Archie/Brady Kids/Sabrina mode hence the similar character designs.

  • rosilva0909

I had 8 years old and i remenber with caress .

    It's very cool.

  • I remember an episode where they dropped a porcupine and a skunk to stop a bank robbery.

  • LOL.. Thank you for the trip down memory lane

  • Most of the clips in this intro were from "Lassie And The Spirit Of Thunder Mountain" which was the pilot film for this series, and aired on "The Saturday Superstar Movie" the year before.

  • wow, i can't believe you have this posted! This takes me WAAAAAY back...

  • the lyrics are soooooooo deep geeeeeeeeeeeeeee

  • watched this before I went to school.

  • holy shit....did filmation make cartoons out of everything?

  • Yeah, I remember this. Lassie's equipped with choppers, sirens, parachutes and radar. " Litlle Jimmy fell down the well? Time to SUIT UP !!"

  • NIce memories from childhood :)

  • Awesome dude

  • the musical highlight of this show for me was always the "peril" scene where they cranked up the Strings section of the orchestra. It was reminiscent of the strings in Papa was A Rolling Stone by the Temptations.

  • That's pretty neat.

I had no idea until now that there was ever a Lassie cartoon.

  • Hahaha!I still remember this song...

  • Ick Filmation.

  • Awesome memories. ^^

  • One of my favorite cartoons as a child. Sad that some of the old Filmation cartoons are no longer around. Even though I may put him down sometimes, I wish that Ted Turner had the rights to these old cartoons. They would be great for Boomerang.

  • A good ole cartoon

they don't make good ones anymore

    all violent and sarcastic nowadays

  • you must put them on tube cant belive some one has them all, no one i know can remember this classic cartoon i thought i was going mad.....

  • @bribarber i had forgotten thisone until i saw this, then it all come back to me..

  • Assisti no tempo que passava na record, foi maneiro :P

  • The cartoon came out in 1973,a year after the live-action version ended its two year run in syndication. The cartoon, produced by Filmation, ran for one season on ABC from 1973 until 1974. Only its second season were repeated episodes until 1976.

  • Dude...a flying skunk! Trippin' out here, totally...

  • Man I remember that show! I used to look forward to seeing that on sat Mornings! Too bad its not on ny more

  • epic cartoon... still remember it :D

  • remember thiws poor lassie can never just set down and tak eit easy

wish they would put it own with RUN JOE RUN

  • OMG... can't believe this is on here. I was just writing a story about how we used to playact this show when I was a kid and wanted to check the title. Too funny!!

  • I thought I was going MAD!! No body of my age range(42) remembers this program was beginning to think I dreamt it. The theme tune sounds so different to what I remember. I have hunted all over the net but no luck. Good old tube I am not mad now just need to find the dvds???

  • @24vgaz I was EXACTLY the same! 42 years old, and for years I thought I'd imagined the whole thing! Then one day I found a video tape of the show in some little rental shop and nearly died from the excitement! I think I'll let this childhood memory lie though—I remember it fondly and don't want reality to destroy that. :)

  • The white bird carrying Musty, and the weasel that the rabbit knocked into the pack of vicious dogs along withRobbie the raccoon were only seen in the pilot film that aired on the ABC Saturday Superstar movie. The best episode of the series was the one with the mad scientist who created robot duplicates of the whole team.

  • when did this come out? i used to watch the real versions, b&w and color versions...but i do not remember lassie cartoon at all...

  • The pilot film premiered in November 1972, and the series premiered on ABC on September 8, 1973.

  • Lassie's Rescue Rangers debuted on ABC in 1973.

  • This and Josie & The Pussycats(in outerspace) were my fave childhood shows!

  • I love Lassie, too!

  • I love Lassie. Added.

  • I haven't seen this for around 30 years. Thanks for taking me down memory lane.

  • Man, you need to be careful going into that forest. Birds carrying skunks and porcupines? Look out!!!

  • wow this cartoon takes me back. i used to watch it as a kid.

  • The song-theme is fantastic :)

  • I love that old lion in the series!

  • That was Toothless, there was a funny commercial bumper with him with Ratso and Batso on The Groovie Goolies And Friends syndication package.

  • Thank you for sharing this Lassie's opening, original poster!

"Lassie's Rescue Rangers" tune has been haunting and heating inside my head for so long that I couldn't help to have a look and try to find it here!

I was a kid when all these Filmation Fanfare were time fillers on national TV here in Lima-Peru (South America)!

Now...here comes another tune in my mind...."Superwitch! Superwitch!"....

    Cesar

  • i hated this show. but hearing the theme makes me happy i was there.

  • I beleive that kid at :34 is actually Mark Wahlberg as a child.

  • Lassie was so smart she once told the sheriff about an illegal card game going on in old man Miller's barn and he arrested everybody there...

  • This was a pretty progressive cartoon back in the day.

I remember an episode where some drug smugglers tried to get one of the Turner sons to smuggle heroin! They even referred to it by name

You could not do that in a cartoon today, even with a just-say-no-motif.

  • Filmation?

  • I thought it was by Hanna-Barbara when I was a kid. But yes,it was made by Filmation.

  • Wow, I remember watching this and was always poo-poohed when I told people there was a Rescue Rangers cartoon that had nothing to do with Chip & Dale. Where did you find this? I had heard all the prints were lost in a fire. Great stuff.

  • Yeah, and unfortunately Lassie was Mauled by a pack of Rotwielers! And they had to seel the goofy lookin' kid to the guy who played Dr. Smith as a replacement for Will Robinson!

  • i dont think so here in greece you can find six dvds with lasies rescue rangers

  • Thanks for that, it's good to know the prints survive. Thanks!

  • check out this site and youll see them

  • just check on joconda gr and youll see em check on vhs

  • Hallmark allegedly destroyed most of the Filmation library in the mid-1990s but the licensed-character shows and the 1980s animated version of their Ghostbusters still existed elsewhere...including this show, whose masters existed in the vaults of Wrather Corporation...which is now owned by Classic Media, which also owns what's left of Filmation's library.

  • Why in the Hell did Hallmark destroyed theses classic cartoons?...What a bunch of morons.....sounds like they obviously don't care about saving history even if it is cartoons.

  • Uncertain as to why Hallmark decided to make that colossal screw-up (apart that they had a bass-ackawrd policy to syndicate the Filmation library only outside North America)...Hallmark mastered them onto PAL 625 line digital composite tapes and trashed the masters.

  • couldn't remember the music but I enjoyed the cartoon when I was like 6 or something

  • yeah, me too, this was my favorite when I was a real little kid and I remember being SO disapointed when they took it off the air. Do you have any episodes?

  • Wasan't the red-headed boy blind in this or something?

  • Yes he was.

  • Mi Caricatura favorita!

  • this was on of my favourite childhood cartoon that i used to seee every saturday i really missit what memories..... thankyou very much for this remind i wiil aprecciate if you could upload some episodes if you can to be well man, thanks
