It doesn't matter how anyone interprets a song because if the writer says it means this but you think it means something else then you're still right. That's the beauty of words (poetry and lyrics especially) you can hear them or read them and find something that you connect with or you see it as being and you're still right.

I prefer this to the Ramones because it has more sorrow to it. Sure it may sound a a little boring to some people but it's to capture the sad emotion... The KKK is not something to be happy about or sing happily about so I think they did a good job. I have to admit (being a huge MM fan) this isn't the best cover they have done but it's still a great cover. All they did was capture the sadness of the song, what's so wrong with that?

@kissFAN1619 I don't actually listen to the Ramones... This is how I found out about the song. It's how I interpreted it when I heard this cover. It doesn't matter how anyone interprets a song because if the writer says it means this but you think it means something else then you're still right. That's the beauty of words (poetry and lyrics especially) you can hear them or read them and find something that you connect with or you see it as being and you're still right.

@RachelRomance actually its quite the opposite. u may think it sux cuz its metal, but i mean come on u think a guy like Marilyn Manson would listen to punk? This proves that his music had influences such as the Ramones, and possibly other punk bands. So its actually more or less, a compliment to the Ramones. not to mention that the cd that its on was entirely put together by johnny ramone. seriously, i hate this guy, but this is pretty damn cool.

Hey this is pretty interesting. I love the original and I like that Manson did something completely different. I can't say I'm a fan of Marilyn Manson but kudos to him for taking a classic song and doing something different. I like this.

As an avid MM fan, I think this cover is pretty fucking terrible. I mean all he did was drone the lyrics into the mic with a bunch of that weird synthesizer shit going on in the background. Manson has had a handful of awesome covers, but I think he should have just let this one alone.

I couldn't even listen to this whole thing... However, I agree that the point of a cover is to take a song and make it into you own while leaving traces of the original to show your respect for the original artist. That's why I'm a firm believer that most covers should only be cross-genres. (like sex pistols covering My way(can't remember original artist but Frank Sinatra does a beast job on that one as well)) Main Point: he leaves no trace of the original song and almost made it sound racist...

I don't like MM, and I don't like Ramones. But this is the only one song, from MM what i can, and like to listening. One of my friend, show me this song, and the original one, from Ramones. And I think (!) it is better.
