It's too bad that so many people focus on the douchiness of Sting's post Police persona and his tantric sex master crap and all that. I fear they might be missing the fact that The Police was one of the tightest trios in history. Sting played some great bass lines Copeland was a master of rhythm and timing. Summers was one of the best rhythm guitarists. 3 words tight tight tight. This band was stuck together with super glue. Take note young players! This is how you tighten up a rhythm section.

When the Police hit the scene at the height of the punk revolution, people with ears were astonished because they could actually play their instruments. Punk up to that point had been a healthy response to the hair-band pretense that had taken over pop music, but then it became pretentious itself when it began to masquerade as talent. The Police scared everybody because not only were they talented, they didn't give a shit either.
