IMO alot of things happened in this episode even if you dont see the gundam in action. yes, the storyline is important and i think that you under estimate that. the character development in this episode was crucial to the ending of this episode ( no spoilers here!) and i believe that their was enough MS action to help support the development. well....thats my 2 cents on things, your welcome to disagree if you want.

This episode of Unicorn? Banagher whines, cries, wishes he was dead, beats a guy up and becomes a man. Kinda like a reverse Bright slap. Also there was Bright himself, nuff said, the legend that this is the unknown ace of the Byalant, and the Black Unicorn.

For those who haven't watched Ep 4 "yet", it's okay to wait because you're not missing much. This episode, in my opinion, lacks MS actions big time! Don't expect any action from Unicorn Gundam. I mean a story is important but don't want to see some great MS actions ?? I can tell you Ep4 doesn't have shit .. the best part of the Ep was the "Black Unicorn Gundam" appearing at the last 2 seconds of the moive. The whole episode focuses on Banagher crying baby cries throughout.

The Feds are no more "evil" in this episode than they have been since the very beginning...Or have you not watched all UC media up to this point?All organizations in the UCverse have corrupt leaders at the head at some point, but ultimately the soldiers that make up any one faction will have their vary from honorable to thugish. Hearing of how Federation troops burned down a refugee camp out of pent up anger is not exactly a shock at this point. Both sides commit atrocities.

A new translation does not replace the original Zeta Gundam, Char's Counterattack is likely never to happen thanks to "a new translation", thus the psyco frame and Unicorn would never be created in that timeline.

One thing you have to remember is that canon is more of a western term. In Japan, especially in terms of anime, when there are two different versions neither one is really given priority or preference over the other. In fact I think that when some fans asked whether or not A New Translation would replace the Zeta Gundam series as canon the response from Tomino or some guy at Sunrise was somewhere along the lines of "The canon is whatever you want it to be."
