  • class .job pays sh*t

  • do you guys play the lottery? YOur odds of landing a job with an airline even with a commercial license may not be much better than winning the lottery

  • WIth the oil situation it might be too late to start a flying career for the future. The current generation of young pilots may be the last anyway. If oil does run out no more cheap flights for anybody. Over the next 20 years i can definitely see less flights taking place and their will be a big reduction and the cost of air travel will make it only for wealthy again

  • I've always wanted to become a pilot ever since i was very little. Now I'm 15 and waiting.... First the US Air Force then the commercial planes

  • @snipingace34 you can start now!!! I started when i was 15 and now im 16. look around for someone. i met my flight instructor at the secretary of state and the rest is history. The sky is the limit. Happy Landings

  • @snipingace34

If you choose to have the job of an airline pilot today, you wont be satifsfied, or happy.

You would be much happier having a PPL license, treating planes as a passion, not a job.

You would be suprised how restricted you are in life once you're a pilot.

  • @RainfulPhenix I know it's a passion

  • I know that Im never going to stop trying to reach my goal never give up!! U can't life would suck if u did

  • so wait this guy made this inspirational video and all that, then quit during ground school? lol

  • the airlines only hire for limited periods. when they are full up they stop hiring sometimes for 10 or 20 year periods if they are full and pilots stay on untill retirement age. they only need new pilots when sombody leaves or retires or increase their fleets size. many people never get to find major airline positions. i'm not saying its impossible but it is clearly obvious that there are very limited places.

  • touching video..

  • Robert Kotick makes $200,000 a year... and its more safer job.

  • @gerry7man555 It isn`t about earning money, neither about safety. It is about doing what your heart loves the most. We pilots, learn every day, love our job, and only we know the beauty of the skies. It is a long journey to get there, but our love for aviation doesn`t know the meaning of the two words "to give up". Everything is dangerous in life, life is equal risks. Sitting on your chair at home has some serious risks as well. If you never failed, you've never lived.

  • @JonathanKostlin The thing i hate about flying is what if something goes wrong and you have for example 200 passengers on your plane! It's not the plane's fault it's YOUR fault and you are responsible for what happened! Yes i know what you mean! Well it depends on your luck though!

  • Lovely video. This makes my dreams even stronger, I will succeed! I HAVE TO SUCCEED! In 10 years I'm gonna be sitting in the cockpit of the freaking 737! Great video mate. Perfect fitting with the song, beautiful.

  • paaaaaaaaaapi lights will guide you home ;)

  • What's the name of that song. It is so true to life and aviation even.

  • @lareau82 coldplay - fix you.... learn to check description next time =)

  • Wow, this song digs deeper than a song with airline videos behind it, somthing you cant replace (condorde) never will be replaced... The lights will guid you home, when you get what you want ( flying) but not what you need (more than 20K a year), great video it speaks to the people who its ment for. Thanks

  • amazing song with true life, thats why I love flying, I dont do it for the money, no one dose... Not even thouse pilots makeing 1/2 a milion a year.

  • @AusDrifter96... May they be the best

  • Awesome video!

  • what the song called

  • not even with all the money in the world you could feel what it is to be a Pilot

  • I love flying, and I have all my life. I especially love it when I'm at the controls. I am ready for the commitment of working my way up to become an airline pilot. Too bad I'm only 15. Two more years!

  • great video. it encompasses a lot of what i love about flying

  • I have been wanting to become a pilot all my life and after watching this i want it more! I am only 13 but Hope one day i will be clear for take off!, Also nice vid man :D

  • I've been in love with aviation ever since i set foot on my very first flight in 02'. Im 21 years of age now and i never had the funds as a kid to afford flight classes and such and around the age of 18-19 i heard the crimson truth about the way you start....ever since then i avoided going to school for it...im working at the airport right now, SO CLOSE YET SO FAR....and it sucks. I kind of want to just fuck it all and just do it....this sucks... :|

  • @nastypop its never going to happen until you take the plunge

  • it must be depressing to retire from this kind of job. i can imagine leaving this job to the slow pace of life on the ground where things hardly ever go as planned and mistakes are always common place. I read a story on the news one pilot was so depressed he commmited suicide on his retirement day as life on the ground didn't offer him muc according to the story. This is the kind of job you would never get bored of as you fly around the whole world.

  • Well for those who aspire to become an airline pilot, I want to wish you all the best and never give up hopes. I have always wanted to become an airline pilot but finance was the problem. So I decided to get a loan and now I am on my way to getting my CPL. Next week I'll do my Single Engine Commercial Checkride then continue on with my Multi-Engine rating. I must say however a big THANK YOU to my Daddy also Mom :) in helping me with the interest for my loan and everything else until I get a job.

  • I want to become a pilot just because I love to fly, money are nothing to me!!! You can give me a rice bowl per day and I fly with my truly warm-heart. I am from China!!!

  • @Doraemonchina

Amen man! Flying is something that always thrills me!

    From Canada!

  • I'm a student pilot; 65 hours. And this completely inspires me to get another couple thousand to become an airline pilot. Thanks.

  • Great Job! I watch this video over and over. Very inspirational and I hope he achieved his dream.

  • with this excuse of the love of flight, which is absolutely good, the airlines pay their pilots like shit. I'd never want a son to become a pilot here in the US..if he'd really want to go for that career,he should go in Europe or way better in the various rich Middle east countries

  • This video was amazing and started to make me cry. Literally my dream is to fly but my parents prohibit me and won't let me do anything with aviation. I really want to become a pilot but now my dream has been ruined because of my parents and if they ever see this I just want to say f*ck you for ruining my life long dream. And I hope I can leave this place for ever! :'(

  • @hamzathespartan117 Hey I'm not for going against your parents, but I was in your very own situation when I was in high school. I told my mother that my dream was to become an airline pilot, and she told me "you just need to get realistic". It crashed my dream for years. I am now almost 33 and I wish I hadn't listened to her at all.

  • @Carpfish29 wow. i wish i could help you reach your dream but i'm only 14. However i have been on an airline and on a p[rivate flight with my uncle and i prefer flying in a small plane alone or with friends because its slow nice and just relaxing. I just talked to my parents yesterday and now im at the conclusion where ill be an aeronautical and a computer engineer (I love building stuff!)

  • @hamzathespartan117 I am currently an over the road truck driver which intern is probably the best job I could have, to allow me to pay for all of my ratings because trucking pays really well if you watch your money closely. I am just now starting my journey of becoming an airline pilot, and it is much harder now that I've been out of school for nearly 15 years. If I were you, and that is what you really want to do, than GO FOR IT and keep the dream alive.

  • @hamzathespartan117 Read as much as you can in the meanwhile about aviation, and choose classes while you are still in school that will aim toward your goal in aviation. Do exceptionally well in Mathematics, Science and Physics, classes and YOU WILL MAKE IT !!!!!!!!!!

I Can't stress enough - "KEEP THE DREAM ALIVE"

  • @Carpfish29 and ill get my ppl with my night and multi engine rating! maybe not an instrument because i love flying early morning or almost night on a clear day! Hopefully you will reach your dream

  • @Carpfish29 NEVERMIND!!! MY PARENTS LIED TO ME :(. SCREW THEM AGAIN!!!! THOSE BASTARDS WONT HELP ME!!!! YOU HAVE ANY IDEA WHAT I SHOIULD DO????

  • @hamzathespartan117 Yes, keep the dream alive and remember "What you beleive you can do, You can really do!!!"

  • @Carpfish29 yeah the big issue for me is financing just like for everyone.

  • I recently retired early from a career as an airline pilot in Europe and although this video brought a tear to my eye, it is a 'rose tinted glasses' view of the job. I wish you the best if you want to do it but get ready to be butt f***** by the airline management.

  • I like how he matched the videos with the Music! :)

  • The most important is between 0:52 and 0:59! "when you lose some thing you can't replace" CONCORDE

  • This song fit very well with the video for all the people who want to be a pilot

  • At 1:18 the song says "Lights will guide you home" and it shows the lights guiding to the runway. Nice video and love the song.

  • @jayflies737 the part your talking about gave me the chills! :)

  • @brandonmcgee17 What do you mean?

  • @brandonmcgee17 same :p

  • @jayflies737 There is alot of that... "Stuck in reverse" The engines go into reverse thrust.

  • @jayflies737 Fix you by coldplay...hope this helped. this is my dream. this is all i want in life :)

  • @fsxAIRLINEguy

    same here mate :)

i dont give a damn about anything else....i will do anything to get there....no one can stop us :)

  • 0:37 "stuck in reverse [thrust]" =)

  • What I heard from many pilots is that airline flying is not so fun as general aviation or glider flying. Can you judge? Because it's an expensive decision...

  • Yea i heard it. I think i know the answer. Gliding is more fun becouse every flight is new you never fly the same like yesterday . commercial aviation pilots sometimes feels like bus drivers .

  • @KristupitOo Bus driving is actually quite entertaining. Check my channel :>

  • I <3 IT!!!!!!

  • Why did the guy from your APP course leave during groundschool? :(

  • the best!

  • @ ALL uninformed commenters ... If you think these numbers are not even close / too low, you need education. Go to airlinepilotcentral (dot) com. That website will provide specific pay scales for pilots based on years at given airline and position (cap / fo).

  • MAN YOUR THE MAN I HAVE PPL!!!!! PERFECT VIDEO!!!!!WOWOW

  • what is the song called?

    Great video!!

I fly for Emirates - NO regrets at all!!!

  • @TheAnsarias the song is COldplay - Fix you

  • If only pilots got paid moree....

  • I like it...

  • Id do this job for free. Though, getting paid is nice too. :)

  • @OmsoiTekken And here we go again!

"Id do this job for free" - This mentality is mgt's wet dream.

Don't get me wrong, flying is great. But you gotta pay the bills.

Take it from us who have been around a while. You can live with

your head in the clouds, or realize that company mgt will never pay you what you're worth. Plenty of people enter the industry with the "work for free" mindset.

Makes it easy for mgt. Holds the rest of the industry down.

  • @OmsoiTekken Yes, getting paid is nice. If you're willing to work for peanuts, that's all you'll ever make. Don't expect a benevolent mgt to give you a raise out of the goodness of their hearts. If you come up through the civilian ranks you'll never be able to pay off the debt you incurred getting your ratings. If you come out of the military in your early 30's you won't be able to support your young family.

All those guys willing to work for free? You probably won't be able to get a JOB!

  • @ualcap you are totally right ualcap a year or 2 ago I was more naive about the whole situation YA i dont care if I get paid 8 dollars the hour as long as Im doing my dream job flying a jet coast to coast .... till now as a working pilot (flight instructor) building my time patiently waiting to move on I can already see the struggles that there are.... we might be doing what we love but there comes heavy sacrifices

  • @xXGETR0CKEDxX Good Luck to you. No career path is certain. In this one you surely pay your "dues". Some folks NEVER get a break. Many companies have feasted on an eager supply of pilots willing to work for peanuts.

  • This video is just a big Inspiration to all future pilots out there!!

If we all work and fight for our dream, it will become a reality!!! Keep trying everyone :D

  • I'd love to become a pilot

  • @Gerald97241 All you have to do is START!

However, realize that many people "want" to, but not everyone "can". The basic level, Private Pilot, is not a daunting thing to achieve. But, it becomes more difficult, and expensive, as you attempt to climb the ladder. Try a glider ride first. And actually, I'd recommend getting a glider rating before you pursue a powered rating. MHO, I think it is a good way to get a good feel for energy mgt and the awareness of the weather/environment.

  • if I wont be a pilot ( for TAP Portugal ) I dont want to live:(

  • Saying a pilot job is 'fun' is like saying islam and nazi are peaceful lolz

  • The way I see it you can either pound your face in at a "normal" job for the rest of your life, or your office can be at 35,000 feet and 300 KIAS with 90,000 horses behind your seat. I dunno, the career sells itself if you ask me.

  • @Isaac21121 Been doing it for close to 30 yrs. It IS a "normal" job.

I go to work so I can pay the bills. When I'm at work I wish I was on days off and at home. When I'm at home I'd rather not have to leave again for 4 or 5 days at a time. Nothing gets done when I'm gone. My days off are spent getting caught up. Then it starts all over again. Pretty much like most jobs out there.

  • @Isaac21121

almost all pilots i spoke to love flying as a hobby, hate it as a job...just like any other career out there

  • @lavakava Sorta. I flew in the military - Loved it! Commercial flying? Love/Hate.

Love-The actual "flying", departures and arrivals, challenging airports.

Hate-Cruise, and being away from home

Love-That I don't do the same 9 to 5 everyday, variety of layovers

Hate-Irregular schedules, reassignments, short layovers, fatigue

    Love-The left seat

Hate-The never ending squeeze from mgt, as well as their crippling incompetence.

And I could go on and on. A schizo perspective to be sure. :-)

  • Fantastic video. I love how it starts with a spin. "The way I see it you can work for a living, or you can fly" (anon.) I just earned my comm multi-instrument.

  • @555Guitarman hell, ill do the job for free.

  • @bajesus666 And airline mgt is hoping you'll do just that.

Funny thing. While you're out "working for free" you probably have a family waiting for you when you get home, mortgage to pay, bills, etc. In short, Life!

So how do you handle those realities? Part time job on your days off?

  • @ualcap LOL, cleary a joke, if i had plenty of money, (like i won the lottery) i would not care to be paid, meaning most wouldnt do it for the money.

  • Love how it started out with a spin

  • @555Guitarman Piloting, and soaring the skies. Looks good on paper. But, the reality is, it's a tough road to hoe. If you don't fly in the military you'll spend a LOT of money getting your ratings and the experience to get your first job. Then, you may be in that low paying job for MANY years. Starry eyed newbies that'll work for peanuts ultimately enable the bare bones operators to exist. They in turn pull the industry down. Not trying to shoot down a dream. Just being real. Good Luck!

  • @555Guitarman Sorry to tell ya. Flying commercially, in the end, is just a job. Problems and hassles just like any other job. And the good pay is the exception rather than the rule in most cases. Check out "So you want to be a regional airline pilot?" That video doesn't lie. I just gave a ride home to a reg. pilot the other night. Lives on the West coast, flies out of NY. 2-hop transcon commute. Livin' the dream!

  • Great video! But how did you download from flightlevel 350.com?

  • I just love flying because of the flying. I dont care about the money. That's a little living extra. But If I'd just get paid to pay bills, taxes and my humble living I'd be satisfied. Flying is just why I wanted to do so.

  • @TheJeffreyklm

you must be a regional airline manager for you to make such a stupid statement...no pilot would ever say money is not important...ever seen the strikes around?

  • absolutly love it , this is my life , im sorry this guy didnt finish his appfo course

  • love all the puns on this

stuck in reverse - reverse thrust

when you love something but it go's to waste - concorde :(

lights will guide you home - lights

  • @dgifford88

average pilot makes what your mcdonalds employee makes...just ask him/her what they make and you get your answer hahaha

  • my dream job: first become an air force pilot thene an airlin pilot

  • This video makes me cry every time. Like I cry in my cockpit. I love FLIGHT.

  • touched my heart Matt.

  • its definetly not the money but its a pleasure when you get paid for what you love to do...

  • Yes money is nothing just think about this maybe u will find it get a job when u finish but in 5-10years u will fly airliner, getting early morning packing bags and u will smile because u will have a good day seen diff places

  • you can't become a pilot because you love money, you become a pilot because you love the air.

the ground is finite, but the air is infinite

  • @brandtaylor93

and with air, the risk is always imminent...you cant see air like water or ground! that alone is reason why pilots should pay more

  • @lavakava I have this under the glass on my desk.

"Aviation itself is not inherently dangerous. But, to an even

greater degree than the sea, it is terribly unforgiving of any

    carelessness, incapacity, or neglect."

  • @lavakava Fools are ex military pilots who choose regional airlines..

Most school-pilots with no HANDS ON jet experiences have their best chances at regional airlines. The pay in the main airline is great.

Being successful = Being happy with what your job is. Don't be a dick. Just because you can't do it, doesn't mean no one else can.

  • @brandtaylor93 wow, nice 1. r u a pilot?

  • great video!

  • it doesn't matter how much you get payed, it's about doing what you love

  • @airdelta9 Great sentence! I take a note of this :)

  • Funny how you only show the landings, as this is the only time the pilots are doing work. You missed the other 6 hours sitting in the cruise jerking off wishing you were on the ground.

  • @sheetbug Great call sheetbug. Also if you want to get a real idea whats it like, replace the music with loud static noise. Changes the mood slightly doesn't it?

  • @rutasr lol

  • Whats this song called?

  • @superrcpilot1 fix you by coldplay

  • why did you friend leave ground school?

  • money is a bonus ;)

  • lol "It needs more work doing to the end of the video where it just becomes one long clip which ill do soon." liar!!

  • @JJ388JAr yea, im turning 14 in august, im begging my parents to get me flight lessons. i think ill get it for my bday, hopefully. they know my passion. its in my blood. my grandfathers on both sides were airforce and my great grandfather was a ww1 pilot at 15 y.o.

  • name of song??

  • @Redskins1726 Fix you - Coldplay

  • can i be an airline pilot if i go to community college for two years and then attend university for another two years? ive been thinking about my future alot because im in 8th grade and my life is just starting to speed up.

  • @SpartanW98 - I agree with other posters. Start flying as early as possible. I highly recommend glider training. You can solo in gliders at 14, powered solo at 16. However, I also recommend your educational plan. College can be an asset on applications. It surely won't hurt. Get a degree in a meaningful field, something you may need to use as a fallback. An aviation career is a fickle thing. My background-AF Academy, USAF, Airline. 737,A320,757,767,747

  • sadly, we dont have glider stuff here in northern california. its a shame because this is great flying country in northerrn cali. do you fly airliners?

  • @SpartanW98 You got airports/airfields/airstrips? Then someone's got a glider operation going. You may need to drive a bit to get away from a metro area if you're close to one. Flew in the AF first. Yes, flying airliners now. A320 Capt. and have flown everything else. ps - originally from N.Cal. LOTS of flying operations there. However, NOT cheap. The path to one's goals is not always easy, or inexpensive ;-)

  • @SpartanW98 Try these folks for glider info: Northern California Soaring Association, Byron Airport, Byron, CA. (40 miles east of San Fran). If they're not close, they can give you info on an operation that is in your area.

  • just go to a 4 year college in your state that has an aviation program

  • @brandtaylor93

in eurpoe it's so , exampel you fly 6 yers an a320 and then you pass exams to fly a bigegr jet ( when you have enought flight experiences ) , you will ahve for ever license for all palnes what you ever flew, but when you change a airline you stay an a jet for what you have a license , liek you go from lh to Swiss and swiss ahven't the 747 but the a320 you will fly the a320 for them.

but ou have to pass again a exam when you change again the type.

  • wow actually your video just encouraged me to study harder now rofl

  • i wana be one but guess what i cant see any roots ways to link me to become an pilot cuase it cost too much and for sponsorship i need a levels math physics which is a kill cinsidering hardest maths involved in flying is trigonometry. but i have to study the further 99% in college which has got nothing to do with the piloting it self?

  • I WANNA BE A PILOT NOW.

  • @747LufthansaPilot isn't everything in flying for a airline seniority based,

I also heard that if lets say I fly Delta for 30years and I'm on a 747 and well I don't like the company so I get a job with a american that I go right back to the bottom of the totem poll.

  • that not possible as every pilot has a type rating for that specific aircraft, they have to go through a lot of training and tests both of which are very expensive to get their type rating..so if he moves to another employer he still keeps his type ratings, no. of type ratings tells how many aircraft can that pilot fly...oki

P.S. its very expensive and long journey to become a pilot only for those who are really serious about it...

  • go to lufthansa , fly an 737 or a320 and after some years flying experiences . . . you are supposed to fly a 747

  • the air has taken me out of pretty dark places, my life maybe falling apart, but the air in the air whether it's my rich relatives cesana or in a airliner I feel so safe. thats why I want to become a pilot.

  • @brandtaylor93 the sky is my home.

  • I really enjoyed the video! Thanks for sharing. Cheers, Clarke

  • VFR rules btw :P

  • Love flying.. It's like sense of freedom.

I want to be a pilot and you bet that it is the best job in the whole world :D

  • I fly 15 years and it's for me today so amazing liek on my first day!

  • your my hero! how did you get to fly a 747?

  • ...yeah all those wonderful views get old avter a while, but ten years later you still make slightly above poverty wages... THATS WHY YOU BECOME AN AIRLINE PILOT!!!

  • haha cool, when he sing "reverse" hes reversing the engines, gr8 edit :D

  • No, the engines do not reverse. The fan still rotate the same direction. What you are seeing is the THRUST reverser vanes that redirect the THRUST from the back of the engines forward.

  • oh, okey :)

  • Great video and awesome song to go with it!

  • This video brought tears to my eyes... It not easy to become a pilot.... And for those that are trying to be one.

  • Great video, I love being reminded of what Im training for.

  • great motivation

  • I would give everything for this job!

  • No airbus?:S

  • 787 hasn't flow yet.

  • You are lying, becuase no one has flown the 787 yet.

  • Mmh, 787 did not fly so far . . .

  • Amazing video, I am currently in Flight School and I this video makes me want to do it more. I watch it every day, very inspiring!

  • I don't care how much you earn, as long as I can pay my bills, I'd be 100% satisfied with this job...

  • absolutley!!! im only 14 but wanted to an airline pilot for as long as i remember

  • yeah me to, but i'm now 17, i m gonna start flying in two years, cant wait, exactly most of the poeple dont undestant why to become a pilot is good, being a pilot, for me is my passion, my dream, its a unique thing in life, and the payment is just a bonus for me, a good bonus :D

  • Yes from as long as i can remember i have been looking up at the skies. It is one of the things we are just born with. Most people think it is just boring. I am 16 and i had wanted to be a pilot but now am looking at the ATC career. ATC=passion, dream, pay, and maybe a private pilot. Good luck to all future people involved in their aviation career.

  • @JOEM747 before running off shouting that atc is the answer, everyone should keep in mind that not all atc are getting $150k year. new candidates for atc get the equivalent of $17k/year for the three months of training in ok city, plus $86/day stipend for living expenses. but once assigned, base pay is $37k year. so definitely more than a starting pilot can expect for quite some time (and without the added expense of building flight time), but no longer as glamorous as advertised.

  • @snoopyloopy haha thanks for the info. first i want to make clear that i want running off and shouting it. i understant it is not all great at the start, but what job is? You do the job because you love it and pay may sometimes be an extra bonus. It is a carreer that you work up in so you can get higher pay. I do think it is more the interest for the career and the technology that brings people to this job. I cant think of anybody piloting or being an ATC just because it is a job. They love it.

  • @JSAirways

well the problem is you CAN'T pay your bills being a pilot for the 1st several years! so stop being a slave for roger cohen and the other bastards in the regional airlines!

  • @lavakava well, I guess it depends where you work. I'm having a shot at Lufthansa...

  • @lavakava man im 16 and it sounds like the military is the way to go..is it hard to go to the military? i mean cant i just choose to fly a c-130 or do they pick for me

  • @JSAirways sooo true

  • Moneys not everything...We do it because we love what we do...Mainline pay is worth it....just takes time my friends...

  • Debateable the more hours you fly the quicker you rank up and can get paid enough money to live the sweet life. The first year will be hell but its worth it after a few years. Its a job you do about how much you love it not just because of the money. You seriously shouldn't do any job that you are not going to like.
