    you are so moothe.

  • thanks 4 your time! gracias por tu tiempo! :)

  • it took me exactly 20 seconds to get this one down, though i suck and i struggle to learn stuff easier than this, this went smooth :p

  • Hey Marlowe. I'm a big fan of your work. It helped me a lot making some groovy "songs" =D, but yet not good enough =P

I wanted to know, what do you use to record your bass?

Thanks, and keep up the good work =D

    Neyodemos

  • GRACIAS POR EL DATO ME SIRVIO

  • Esse Cara e demais D++++ Muito bom( very, very, veryyyy goood) muito bom mesmo.

  • tabs would be lovely :P

  • @ZachHarmonic Come on man, just use your ears and watch the video then you very far,

I'm 15 and I have been playing 7 years, I use my ears as much as possible, the more you exercised, the more easier it is .. Only, you should try it! Greetings from holland

  • You are truely an inspiration. Not only because of your grooves but for your selfless sharing.

  • Hey Marlow,

i love your interactive vids. It feels like we're really actually playing along each other. i like to play those vids back and forth and modify the lines to create a real jam. It's great if you don't have someone to jam with, because practicing bass alone can be very boring :)

  • I've got the same style as you ! :D

  • What do you use for an amp?

  • salute from croatia maestro!!!one day if i get some money in this shit country i will surely get bass like this one!!

p.s.sorry on my english i hope you understand

  • Wow, amazing groove man. I just have to go work on that bass line and it's 1:05 in the morning, on a weeknight!!! Gotta use those headphones. Thanx.

  • chissà se suonerai mai dalle mie parti .-))

  • thanks so much for posting these vids and they really are a big help. but i am sorry... im gona steal all your licks

  • @GITTZA No problem, we all steal to learn, just remember make it your own eventually

  • wish there was something like this for normal guitar:(

  • nice = )

  • What drum machine do you use??

  • wow coll man. make more vids like that

  • This was the most fun I had with a video. Great fun.

  • I just love your video's! Thanks so much! :)

  • Hey Marlow,

I've always loved your stuff and I was wondering, do you have any plans to do some 5 or 6 string funk grooves?

  • @EurynomusBH I dont have a good 5 string, and my six string is not home right now, but maybe later:-)

  • @MarloweDK hm question:during the classic "dum da da ,dum da" i tried all ways(not with thumb i prefer the sound of index n middle more),n its more comfortable during the dum(mid) da(index ) da (mid) -dum(index ) ,da (middle) n then again with middle n not in exchange, however when i want to play all the time

dum-da-da-dum-da-da-dum-da-da,non stop i try normal by changing finger per beat but still is difficult(i sound kinda like retard with the 'dum da' stuff but it s kinda messy yeah:P

  • @MarloweDK what do you consider to

be a good 5 string bass, seeing as there

    are so many out there?!

  • @byjuu246 You should see the 4 string basses!

  • hello mate, ive watched most of your lessons and all are great, ive been playing bass on and off for 6 years with no lesson except for lessons like yourself. so for the people in the same boat, playing by watching and by ear is the way to go, tab is much easier, but playing by ear lets you explore the fret board more, ive played by ear for so long you just now them notes by listening and helps you to pick up what you are hearing easier, it took just 30 sec to play this and im not that good

  • some people in this world are born teachers and you are one of those people!

    thanks

  • ça bon

  • dude you are blessed with spider fingers.....those are some long ass fingers...sigh....amazing bassist good work.

  • best bass teacher ever on youtube

  • this sounds good and as a learner what I would like to play like. where would i get drum samples from online anybody???

  • I like the way you incorperate interaction. Thats genious man. also sweet basses bro!

  • this is hilarious.

    Good teaching though.

  • cool bass

  • I love this man!

    Thank you, sir.

  • Супер ! Вы безподобный учитель!!!

  • Great lesson, I like the finger pattern on this one!

  • Thank you Thomas for your great lesson!

  • I'm interested in learning to play bass guitar, could someone please reccomend good starter bass and amp. I would greatly appreciated it , Thanks !!!!!

  • peavey milestone pack

  • u da man!

  • daqmn marlowe this was almost a face to face lesson, you sir, are incredible

  • That was great fun!

  • loved this lesson, great way to involve the watcher.

    keep the funk going

  • he's mentioned before that he wont notate his lines...hes already going one step further and showing you how to play the groove; its a free bass lesson! your ears are also a useful tool in learning new grooves....thank you MarloweDK!

  • he does this to train your ear :)

  • May be i should do your homework too;-)

Point is : you only learn by trying to figure it it out by ear (and eyes), otherwise start with something simpler

  • ah you replied to me thats so cool your awesome dude.

  • you will not get better by using tabs. learn to learn by watching and using your ears and you will become a much better performer

  • You kind of got to learn the tones and connect them to the tabs though? I got a really big problem recognizing the tones. Any tips?

  • If you really want to be a better musician, then you need to learn the fundamentals. Learn to read sheet music, learn what notes you are playing on your bass, etc... Mostly what it comes down to is dedication and practice.

  • Tell that to Paul McCartney (who cant read nor write sheet music). If you want to be a good musician, simply practice as much as you can and study everyone and everything. Now, Im not saying one should avoid learning to read/write music, mind you, just that there are other ways. I think it is far more valuable to be able to play by ear (if you can).

  • read my first reply to aston0wns;)

then read what Krakkulf asked me and then re-read my reply and then come back and see me

  • you just need to see roughly which frets he starts with and try out the notes on the board by yourself.

  • so i had a look at your page and you have no traces of anything musical??

  • and your point is? I have been playing Double Bass for 10 years or so and bass guitar for 8. I dont have anything personally uploaded because I dont have the proper equipment to record anything musical and do it justice ;)

  • What do you mean?

  • sorry, i must have been drunk or something lol

  • @lurch1489 ,dude, I've been doing that to many songs, and It has been well, but seriously...try doing it to 'Teen Town', it's impossible for me to just sit and listen and try, sit and listen and try, sit and listen and try... have to have tabs sometimes.

  • @ashton0wns The greatest thing you can do for your own musicianship is to learn how to listen and work things out by ear. No one is going to be holding your hand when you have to learn to play a difficult song by ear.

  • this kind of lecture is cool, i should have paid you in real life LOL.

  • Hey Marlowe,

On a groove such as this... what makes your decision to shift positions and play the C on the A string instead of on the E? Is it just a setup for the gliss back up? Just curious.

  • The sound is slightly different, but i agree with you, it's a weird thing to do, not only amazingly more weird and unnatural. You should change positions as little aas you can.

  • Music is about the right feel and frasing, and in this instance i want the frasing with the descending run on the A string. Its just sounds better here and im ready for the slide from the low G as you noticed

  • я кончел!! крууут

  • Awesome bass ; )

  • whats pentatonic

  • A 5 note scale.

  • thank you very much! ..from italy

  • Excellent idea! I love the new concept of refraining so the rest of us can play along. Don't stop.

  • great lessons man.

  • You are a great bass player and a excelent teacher!!! I learn many things from you, and your exercices are making me a better musician day after day.

  • great koncept with the play-a-longs and where we can play with you :) it should really help the beginners.

  • THAT'S WHY I COULDN'T FOLLOW HIM!!!!!!!!!!!

He uses his ring finger...not just the first two.

  • haha yeah I sometimes have to take a minute or two trying to figure out what finger he's actually holding a note with! Worth it though :D

  • not actually, at least not to hit the strings in this vid

  • Great idea !

  • This is such a great idea! It's such a good way to be interactive and encourage practice!

  • Yea totally! It's such a good idea. This isn't something I can't already do, but the whole interaction idea makes me wanna jam with marlowe!!

  • sweet, as always
