Hey Baul, This definetly sounds like our 1986 GM Classics we had in DDOT and 1987 GM Classics in Windsor Transit. I just love that sound, especially on that part on 0:17 on 2nd gear.
These 1983 GM Classics have been in service for almost 25 years. With the 2007 New Flyers being brought into active service, it is only a matter of time before Metro Transit retires the last 5 of these buses.
All 1983 GM Classics in the HRM are now retired.

Note that all the '85 and '87 GM classics were retired. I bet the last '87 MCI classic and the last 2 '86 GM classics are the next to go.

This is a great 6V71 Engine that I've heard! I hope they keep one of the remaining Classics and the New Look buses for at least 5 to 8 years...

Sorry for the late reply, but yeah, it definitely sounds like D-dot! I've only ridden on the GM Classic bus only once...

This video just proves that a Classic CAN be used for more than 20 years, like a New Look.

I agree.

These high floor buses will be gone in the next 10 to 15 years.

Just so you kmow, 873 was the most recent 1983 GM Classic to enter retirement.

I hate those low floor ones

Really?

Uh, it is rechargeable. Rechargeable batteries still die.

Yes, but these types of batteries can be recharged.

If you do see any of the new low floor buses on the rt. 10, get that trip on video.

871 is Metro Transit's oldest bus.

My camera was literally flashing low battery from the moment I started recording... it finally gave out, but lasted a good 2 minutes!

Didn't you charge your camera before recording this video?
FamilyGuyFan2007 4 years ago
Nope. I didn't realize my battery was as low as it actually was. Grunt.
