Ok, this is for tactical shooting (shooting people), not birds or skeet. For shooting skeet, you should have the gun shouldered before they pull (let the skeet fly). Track the skeet with your site. Start off behind the skeet and move the site until your leading the clay pidgeon a little, then shoot when you're ahead of it. The further away it is, the more you need to lead it. If your shotgun has a screw in choke, I'd use improved modified, its decent at a good range of distances.
is that a skeet or trap shotgun??? I just have a remington 870 & i brought it to a trap range and they told me i had the wrong kind of shotty.
i was thinking about taking up trap shooting. do you have a suggestion for low-mid range model thats a good value til i get more experience & then know what features I like - dislike etc? thanks
I don't really shoot skeet or trap but maybe once or twice a year. This video was made to help an FBI trainee with his tactical shotgun qualification. Basically, all my videos and classes serve the purpose of teaching people how to shoot, well, people. They're all self-defense oriented. A Remington 870 or Mossberg 500 are great cop/tacitcal/military shotguns, and I hit probably 75% of skeet with my Mossberg so it certainly works for skeet, too. I'm not sure what else they'd want.
people don't usually have a pump action for clays. For trap or skeet people generaly use a over n under or a semi auto. you can buy guns for specific disciplines.
i use an 870 express with a 28" barrel for trap shooting. i usually score low to mid 90's out of 100. occasionally high 80s. the person who told you you had the wrong shotgun is either some kind of trap shooting elitist(which there are freaking many nowadays) or they wanted to sell you a gun.
Sure. First, keep it pointed in a safe direction and keep your finger off the trigger. Then, open the action or run the pump on the shotgun. You'll have to tell me if its a single shot, double barrel, semi-auto or pump action. I'm assuming its a pump. Run the pump on the shotgun. If it won't move, again keeping your finger OFF the trigger, there should be a small black button (not the safety) that you can press that will allow the action to move.
Its a single barrel 12gauge shotgun Im not sure of the name and other specs but it looks VERY simular to the one you have here only difference is mine is older than this one.
I was just going through the comments on my videos and realized I typed in the wrong number, I meant to say 48". I ended up measuring it before I replied again, and its 47.5" with the 28" barrel. Thanks for watching!
I should say again, the shot is fired as soon as you're shouldered. I waited way too long to fire the shot on the video because I was explaining it. The idea is to not give the target time to react. Feel free to email me with any questions. Thanks.
shotguns dont hold bullets they hold shells they are two completely different things u do not want to get them mixed when using it.

u are going to break the firing pin dry firing like u did and if u do it enough it will shoot out the front of the shotgun so be aware of that.

@TheFartville His finger would get worn out before anything breaks.

I would laugh if he forgot a bullet in the shotgun, And shot it in his own house, and blew the wall off. :P
But this is a good tip video. :)

If I have a shot gun that has not been fired can you show me or tell me how to make sure the gun is unloaded.

is the overall length 50+ inches on that shotgun?
Dominick629 4 years ago
It's probably about 40". 28" barrel + the stock.
CureForIgnorance 4 years ago
really? the benelli m4 is 40" with an 18" barrel so i figured that one would be 50+"
