Thanks for sharing this great movie ! I can see myself in the Chef' situation, but

as a mother it is a GIVING spirit to our family when i spend long hrs in the kitchen

to cook the family meals every weekend. Leaving behind warm memories is much meaningful ..

All the shots of professional cooks' hands at work were amazing, but I especially loved the technique of cooking the thin dough sheets on the flat iron. I'd never seen that before watching this movie years ago.

And of course, "I can taste your soup..." It's heartbreaking, but you don't notice what he's said the first instance he mentions too much ginger.

The middle daughter does not buy the house. She is going to Amsterdam. Someone else has bought it. That's why the Dad does not use his key to go in. It no longer feels like home.

@msuspartans112 No, the middle daughter did buy the house from the father, that is why you see the father leaving his new house and Jin Rong, and coming over to the old house (which now the middle daughter lives). The middle daughter was the one who really wanted to leave in the beginning, but as the story goes on, she begins to undestand the meaning of a family (uncle wen dying, her sisters and father leaving).

@msuspartans112 As with the key scene, the father wanted use his key to get in to the house, but realized that he no longer lives there, that is why he rang the door bell. I love the ending~ the father finally got his taste back and it's all because of the love he now feels from his daughter and family.

@SP64 No, the middle daughter bought the house (the business woman who surprisingly didn't end up with the man at the end). The eldest daughter was the school teacher who married the volleyball coach. It's the family's house your seeing there with the dad and the middle daughter.
