Well guys, I just finished seeing the 9th episode of the second season. Cameron said that she can feel, and that she does have emotions. So don't tell me that she can't feel. maybe she is right ,she said to John " You don't undersatnd how we work "

To start, the writers have been deliberately ambiguous about almost every statement made by almost every character, none moreso than Cameron. Almost everything is open to interpretation.

When Cameron said "I feel. I wouldn't be worth much if I couldn't feel", I believe that was supposed to mean that she felt tactile sensation of the wind on her foot and hand.

She has emotions, but I don't think that SHE knows she's feeling true human emotions.

Later, she said "I'm a machine, I can't be happy". What did the writers intend this to mean?

Does she *think* that she can't feel emotion, even though it's pretty clear she can?

Did she mean that she wants so badly to be human, that she can't be happy as a machine?

I like to think Cameron meant she cares about John, but doesn't believe that he will ever care about her unless she's human(plus she's helping him wipe out machines and may wonder what happens when she's the last one?).

She cant be happy because she cant independently think or comprehend. Being a machine, she is limited to responding to any situation in accordance to her programming, using preprogrammed "emotions." According to the show, the terminators are learning machines and have the ability to program themselves. What this allows them to do is add emotion/responsive code to their database based off things they learned and allows them to add code for other scenarios using any emotions needed for the event.

What a powerful scene. The human robot was so convincing. The scene just reminded me that we should always follow our true instincts. It is not part of the human condition to want to be control and this is why we must resist it at all cost. Whether it is being control by a human or a machine, it is not natural. It's not that she values her existence, it's that she's programmed to fulfill her mission in any way that she can and if she has observed that she can manipulate John's feelings or perceived that he has affection for her, she will use that to her advantage. They were not attempting to imply that she has true emotions. Also, she is different from any other model we have seen and we do not know what she is capable of. Whatever her abilites, future John obviously wanted her to have them.
