Diane Arbus was a genius. One of the most important photographers of all time. She took pictures of people that most of society, unfortunately, is taught to look down on, to judge. She saw these people for what they were...people, just like you and me. I will always admire her.
The Lillian he was talking about is my great-grandmother. My grandma was telling my mom about this Jack Dracula earlier so I looked him up on youtube. Weird.
I've always had an intense fascination with the work of Diane Arbus...and I always found Jack Dracula to be one of her standout photographs. This interview proves that she had a real genius for finding characters with CHARACTER--and having them reveal pieces of themselves in the pictures. Love this guy. So interesting and engaging. I can listen to him tell stories for hours.
