Without foreclosures banks will just pass more of the costs of doing business so those who cannot pay a mortgage will benefit from socialism in the housing sector. No free checking? Higher ATM fees? Maintence fees? Banks are businesses. Socialism never works.
I'm glad my bank did it fast as they did. I need it completed by end of 2012 before the Federal Mortgage Forgiveness act expires and that I can now start re-building my credit. The longer the lack of payment lingers for my home, the longer it will take to start rebuilding my credit.
