Best song by Janis. The most intense , passionate voice I will have heard in my life time. Thanks for the emotions your voice brings out in me. Your sad life had a purpose, and that was to help us feel when we feel empty.
I am 54 now and skipped school at 13 to see Janis Joplin Life Hitch-hiked
Seeing Janis obviously totally addicted but performing like that made me cry like never before.
This was everything in one voice Amy could have it I think. Marianne is just great and Jimi well his place on the Olympus will never be challenged I think !
But Janis seeing on stage - well what can one say Oh men she was one of a kind
You are right She fought and for that we should be in awe I was bit edgy
@NJGUY46 No she was not She was by all means the best voice Of her and this time But she has been screwed over so many times she didn't even know who she was off stage People took advantage of her . Misused her and in some interviews it is obvious she has been a sad sad woman for all of her life She hated herself so much she needed every drug one can think of to keep going.
I am 54 and grew up with her music She means so much to me But there was nothing romantic about her !
@mizz77anna ..well first of all I never said there was something "romantic " about her... All I am saying is that she "tried" to have her own vision which came from deep deep down inside of her. YES, she was screwed over professionally AND personally , but she fought to be her own person in spite of that. She didnt take drugs because she hated herself, she took them to ease the pain and hurt of her personal life..so I guess we could agree to disagree about her...lol... btw...I'm 56...lol
@mizz77anna In spite of our disagreement , we CAN agree that she was ONE of a kind... a stage presence that COULDNT be matched with todays "stars" and sung the blue with feeling like no one else ever has and probably never will.....I happen to see her 3 months before she passed at a peace rally in Shea Stadium, NY and will NEVER EVER forget her performance....oh yea...she had the mic in one hand and a bottle of Jack Daniels in the other while she sang...lol
@NJGUY46 Cause I see so many stories about her that make me sick I took it out on you Oh my god Shame on me !!!!! What I write is as much true as what you write I not only miss Janis - Jimi et all I miss my freedom hence the edgy behaviour Now we live Orwell 1984 I just wished we where free again
So forgive me my friend for falling all over you ;-)
She hated her looks and was tortured during high scholl and college-voted her ugly man on campus. Janis had a hard side, but also a soft side, both very real. no women went without a bra in 1969 and you must norice the men in attendance?. She drank on stage and said mother fucker a lot too. She was an alcoholic for sure, but had been clean for six months in early 1970 but started to using again I blame her FRIENDS Peggy Caserta & Seth Morgan, her fiance at the time. The voice of a generation.
@mizz77anna Janis was very much in control of her professional life...did she not try going solo? Full Tilt and janis were on the road to greatness, until 10/4/1970...a huge loss...never will forget her.
@stevienicksnet1 I just read Pearl and from what I get she was working on a more loose performance with different musicians She wanted more softness and ballads I believe she was very happy with the people she worked with in this video :-)
