wanna get jet kills? play rush, (for the A-10 and Frog-foot) and use rocket-pods, and the main gun to target tanks, jeeps, etc. don't waste time dogfighting, take out ground targets, i have nearly 500 jet kills doing this

I think flares should not be the first unlock for jets, it makes it difficult. For example I have 90 hours on the game I have 2 jet kills total (2 different jets) I try to kill it is just hard. I've gotten to stealth just by getting assist.

P.S. One of my jet kills was a kamakazi into a heli.

In BF3 jets suck. There isn't any really effective way to do ground damage. In BF2 you could have kills with jet just as much as someone in the ground. Also sniping was effective in BF2, at least they had claymores.

@smokythejet I think they are, but they're a different style. Both BC games have elements from the PC BF's but equally have flaws which needed to be ironed out. For me it was the lack of squad orders, lack of transport helo's and the way some weapons handled including customisation whilst BC2 was the linear maps (BC1's were larger and more open), the emphasise on Rush mode. Both lacked Jet gameplay too. BC series does have elements but i believe they need to find a balance for the series :)

This is because DICE wanted a similar experience across all platforms, the end result whether you like it or not is the PC version doesn't get as large maps as it could. That said, it could be FB2 that limits the map size but that's another story. Thanks for the comment.

@capelf14 In theory it would, but the guns in BF2 do far more damage than BF3, usually provided you use the minimap, you should know where players are and could easily strafe infantry, killing multiple players in one run. The problem with BF3 is VS infantry, Jets still aren't that powerful, most likely to balance the game of course. The rocketpods are good but not effective enough and the machine gun is like firing airsoft pellets unless you're in an A10 on Rush.

@capelf14 not nessicarily a superhornet to some extent is only so fast, and 35A is horribly slow at turns(in-game cause it VTOL's immediatly when slowed) to ones perspective in the sky it may seem slower. To another on the ground your going reletively fast on a big map.

One bid difference in bf2-bf3 jet flying is that in bf2 you get looked you only get one sound and you don't know if the missile will hit you or not. In bf3 you got a sound that he/she has a lock on you and a different sound that there is an incoming missile. Another is that in bf2 the guns on the jet don't get heated up but in bf3 they do(which is like in real life).

@cjjesse It's mainly due to the new art direction that BF3 took...there's too much contrast and someone has released an FXAA injector or something like that, that actually makes the game look better and removes the contrast. It's somewhere on the Electronic arts BF3 UK forums.

@AGENT47ist I used the full version of FRAPS to record both games, you do have to pay for it but there are "other" methods of getting it. Thanks for the comment, although the BF3 Beta section wasn't that good as I had limited time to learn how to fly, I recommend watching my more up to date comparison where I have learnt the controls in BF3 better.
