Really fascinated by the national park pics. Such wonderful pictures. You looked so handsome in that pic with your mother. Nice looking family Larry! Lucky that you got to travel to so many far away places. Thanks for sharing those pictures. You have a talent for capturing interesting shots.
Very nice pictures. I like your sense in details, for example some architectural pictures near the beginning of the video. Also, the landscape pictures was very impressing.
I'd like to see these pictures in a larger format, so I searched for you on Flickr, but seems as you're not there. Do you have any online gallery somewhere?
the one in LA with the church reflected in it, reminds me VERY much of the john hancock building in boston, you should check out some photos of that on google, you'll see what i mean
I'm sure you've heard this many times but your photography skills are so good, Larry -- the pictures look like professional magazine illustrations! Were you a photographer at anytime, did you take a class or are you just a natural at it?
I took a class in high school, but at that time I had to use an old (even then) twin lens reflex. Most of these pics were taken with an SLR. Their graininess is attributable to the fact that they were originally slides. They didn't scan as well as I might have hoped.
Great pics, Largo64. Just wondering if perchance the Church in Pasadena (19 sec. mark) was designed by influential LA Architect, Richard Neutra? Some of the details such as the hovering planes are reminescent of his work. I believe Kyoto, Japan was on the list of targets for the dropping of the atomic bomb.
Hi, Don! I have no idea who the architect was. The church it replaced was in a gothic style, but it was damaged in an earthquake in about 1971 and had to be replaced. I didn't like the new building at first. But as I began to see it as a sculpture I changed my mind. I took some pictures inside, too, but lacking a tripod and flash I got some fuzzy results. Too bad.
Cool! The Hale house and Carson Mansion victorians look like so many houses in the Haight. Love your other SF pics too. Nice redwood shot. Actually Arnold doesn't spend much time in Sacto as much as LA. Is that really your original pics of Mt Shasta and Mt Hood? Awesome shots! 5 stars/Favorite
Oh, you must mean Shasta. Yes that used to be completely snow capped when we'd go to Oregon in the summer when I was a kid. Now, almost no snow. Shasta Lake is down by maybe 30 feet.
Thanks Mr, Largo64. I hope that you have the impression that is good for Japan.

My favorite was the 'fairy tale' house.

People actually still live in that house!

another copland fan, we don't hear his music often enough. Our Irish radio station called Lyric FM sometimes playes him

I often put "Appalachian Spring" on iTunes before climbing into bed. But the music is so soothing I haven't heard the end of it in quite some time!

All the pics were taken by me, over maybe 35 years. My "hobby" is sporadic at best, because until now, photography has been too expensive.
