Bears are awesome, and not usually dangerous to humans. They can be deadly when startled however, so try to make lots of noise when in bear country so they can hear you coming and have a chance to get away

@arwen114 I think there's more of a middle ground there. The majority of bears won't be that easy-going around humans, and the majority of bears will never be kept as pets. However, wild grizzlies are still mostly vegetarians, and when they do eat meat, humans are hardly their first choice--they can carry guns and are more trouble than they're worth. Grizzlies may not be friendly, but they aren't stupid, either.
