I just read Wrestler1985's comments and I appreciate that. I recall Monday was at 163 and I was wonderin what he was doing down at Fadzaev's weight class. To think Fadzaev whent up a weight to wrestle him! I didn't know Fadzaev had ever lost in international competition. What a great, great tacnician!
Man, I don't know who was coaching Kenny from the corner but you'd think he'd have more constructive things to say! Also, why wasn't he in that ref's face for the choke? Finally, Monday has to be one of our most underrated wrestlers when you consider how he beat the all-time greats like Schultz and Fadzaev!
@BenZelo sorry the choke is illegal.the only way that Fadzaev's can beat kenny monday is by chocking him.kenny monday was too much for Fadzaev's. Fadzaev's is the best but in 68 kg.I'm rodriguez 74 kg
fadzaev went up a weight division to wrestle Monday so there is a huge weight advantage but you cant call one of the greatest wrestlers of all time a choker, he achieved a lot more than Monday did in his career and Monday would be the first to say so, and I love them both, they r both champions
I think he's being literal by calling him a choker. Meaning, he chokes people.
It's part of the game. Dave Schultz used to choke the hell out of opponents. In this match, I think it lit a fire under Kenny's arse and got him going to the win.
Yeah your right it couldn't of been that Monday trained harder or performed better. It couldn't be that instead of going the easy route and quitting he did one more drill. His hard work means nothing he's black and that's the reason he won.
I am wondering what the score is at the end?

Are they even in the same weight division? If so, where's the rest of the Russian?

@GustavusAdolphus1 think fadzaev was wrestling up even though he wasnt very heavy, monday was prolly dropping 20-30lbs from wherever he started at.

He tapped out at 40 seconds from the front-headlock

And?
Tapping out wasn't a rule back then so it really doesnt matter.

I was just pointing it out; thought it was a good front headlock.

Fadzaev always was a choker. No room for that in wrestling. Not with the intent he had. It diminished him.
