I guess Padmarajan casted her with purpose. The theme of this film is depth of love and he didn't want someone with exceptional looks. Also Solomon falls in love with Sofia impressed by her working ability not physical aspects. However I do agree that Mohanlal Sumalatha is an awesome pair.
