I went to the local RAM expedition here in Clinton, Tennessee, this past weekend. I was given an eye exam, as I needed a new pair of glasses, and I learned that I have early signs of cataracts. I received my new pair of glasses that very same day.
I will do my best to help this man - Stan Brock - and his Remote Area Medical organization. Somehow, I will help them. Just as a way of saying "Thank you, RAM".
What a man, i remember watching a doc. on him in the UK. This is what helping people means. I am a nurse and i would be an honour to volunteer for R.A.M.
America please look after your own. These people made you. Look after them. Everyone is someone mother/father/daughter/son.
@ebiekem well our tax dollars in america do go for healthcare to some extent. Its not there is no money spent on it. Also look at all the money america spends providing medical care to other parts of the world. Look at how much money bush gave africa. That was our tax money. American tax money has also been funding the protection of europe for 65 years. This has allowed europe to spend very little on their own militarys.
As long as many people continue to regard a single-payer system as "socialism" and do not realize that HMOs and insurance companies are part of the problem because all they care about is maximizing their profits then this problem will continue. I wonder how many of the people who sought treatment in this segment voted for Obama (or McCain) and did not vote for candidates who support a single-payer system. We need to stop this "brainwashing" and finally start demanding more from our politicians!
This is so sad. I'm also from Canada. I can't imagine what it would be like to worry not just about getting sick,but being able to -afford- to be sick.
tell me what you think of the politition from Newfoundland canada who just came down here to get heart surgery and he said it was his heart and he was going to do what was best for him.
If the Public option doesn't get passed... we better start asking for Europeans to send us Medical Missionaries on a regular basis.. like a third world hell hole.

I can't believe there are no comments either. It is hard to believe the so called 'richest' nation in the world has come to this. Show it to the blue dogs -but would that make a difference? Would THEY be ashamed of themselves over their greed? Obviously the Repub's could care less.
I'm from Canada where we have universal care with no worries... so my heart goes out to all of you. Good luck in your battle. Stay strong, shout LOUD! Make Obama and the Dems listen to you!!
There is nothing to be ashamed of. There is good in everything. This situation opens hearts and pocketbooks. It gives people an opportunity to love and be loved in return.
If you ever wanted proof that the USA was a really a 3rd world country - this is it.
