  • Helpful but some explanation would have helped. For example, was this wet-on-wet? Camera placing could be better, as top of hand and not brush was all that could be seen at times.

  • It wasn't really a tutorial, but I liked it anyway ;D I dont think that the outline ruined it, it actually made it better ^__^

  • You make it look so easy...

  • I enjoyed your tutorial very much!

  • don't use black it is too bold for the other colors your using. But nice work

  • beautiful !!

  • thx 4 tutorial!

  • Absolutely lovely. I really enjoyed this video. Thanks for posting!

  • nice work

  • nice

  • im an artist who is new to watercolor, and i'm taking a watercolor class at the moment. i learned some new techniques watching this, so thank you! and it looks lovely!

  • not bad.,its nice

  • Thanks for this tutorial. To see mine go to my artstevo channel on youtube for art and yoga holidays in beautiful Sozopol in Bulgaria

  • very good!

  • im doing a week of watercolour the week after next never done watercolours before in my life i hear you either really like them or not, was it a good idea or bad to book it

  • hhm.....so the word of the day is "layer" I suppose. Thanx for posting!

  • Hmm... I think I'm just going to paint and try to replicate a few of your techniques, I really want to paint a field of yellow Agrimony flowers. :3

  • Cute :)

  • wth why did he do that ?? :O

  • Excellent. I paid attention to the brushes you used, and the processes. I wish you could talk and paint. :-)

  • @jackdaw1978 not really he could still frame it but i see where ur coming from

  • Your video was very helpful to me, a beginner in watercolor. I am a very impatient artist and that does not work in my favor with this medium. The gradual building up is something I need to learn to do. My style is severe as is my personality, watercolor will be a challenge for me because the water controls me more then I control the water. But I'm working on it. I also tend to try to hard with the image and end up ruining it, especially with the 140 lb paper, a real mess

  • hmm i actually like the outline (:

  • i hate the black border...

  • what type of paper is this ? i need to know ! fast reply !! ASAP !!

  • @jackdaw1978 ... yeah, the outline spoiled the free flowing airy feeling the painting had

  • @jackdaw1978 ... yeah, the outline spoiled the free flowing airy feeling the painting had

  • very nice!

  • You make it look so simple and beautiful : )

  • @jackdaw1978 Not at all ... it gave it the good ol' illustration look, like something out of a story-book.

  • @jackdaw1978

Agreed/ It was much better before he began outlining with the light-valued mountain.

  • I really enjoyed watching your demonstration painting video, great composition.

  • you spelt colour wrong

  • @MadeUpSubscriber245 Actually, that is how you spell it here, from what I've seen, I would assume your from the UK. In America its "Color" and where you live, most likely at least, it's "Colour" For an example, my computer is saying that "colour" is wrong and suggests "color" instead. My computer is set to an American setting.

  • Wow! That was a beautiful painting! Loved the trees and the grass in front :P Amazing :D

  • Sloppy? Has no brush control or color sense.

  • I am working with a very talented artist, Margie Bowker. Would appreciate your advice as to how you were able to get such great traffic.

  • he put the camera on the same side his right hand is, so we can't see much of the painting process cause he covers the paper with the hand. the camera should've be put the other side !

  • welcome...visit GPABSKY.com website for the ARTIST. ty!

  • nice

  • and i taught i could paint...

  • I like the freehand outline, there are no straight lines in nature, and it keeps the eye from wandering outside.

  • very well done; I would reconsider outlining the mountains and 'framing' the picture.

  • where did you paint on? i mean i think that is not a paper is it?

  • very nice!!!!

  • very nice painting!!!

  • looks like toiletpaper

    i´m serious xD /irony off

  • maybe watercolor paints are more safer than the other types of paints you dont really need to use titainium white paint cause the paper provides the white you would usually use

  • Hasta un perro lo hace mejor

  • @claudiamanja do it yourself bitch

  • @claudiamanja Claro que lo hago pendejo!!!, yo si pinto de verdad y no soy amateur sino PROFESIONAL!, soy Arquitecta pintora.

    ¿Te quedó claro?

  • awesome =)

  • Great work.Question,Do you use tube paints or half pans?

  • Nice work but please leave outline out next painting. Other than that you are real talent!

  • what colors and what brush.. o.O

  • Good work, i like the style of it. wanna be there

  • I really think you ruined it with the border ,other then that nice work

  • Good step, Thanks

  • I enjoyed you video a lot. Thanks for posting!

  • Possibly a little overdetailed for my liking, not too keen on the border or the secondary mountains in the background. But its a beautiful piece either way.

  • Wow excellent work i like the way you pain,t very very dramatic.

  • very nice. did you paint this from your head or did you use a reference?

for me, i liked it best without the border. i know borders are supposed to keep your eyes on the piece, but this seemed to draw my eyes to the border more.

  • شكرا

  • i like your work!

  • OMG! so much pretty... du er dra Norge..så bloggen din nå..

  • its nice but you can talk to us you konw.

  • did you use any particular watercolor brand that u prefer? and what paper did u use?

  • very nice but in my opinion it would be better without this black frame

  • Beautifull paint! Five stars!

  • It would be really helpful to hear a voice-over explaining what you're doing as you're doing it. For instance: when you painted the trees, how did you keep the paint above the rooftops from bleeding down onto the roofs? And how did you go about laying out the sketch? And at what points did you wait for the paint to dry before going back to add more? etc.

  • what's w/ all the rules in the comments?!!? this is ART for pete's sake! have fun with it and let go already, people!

  • If your are right hand painiter NEVER shoot from the right sie, otherwise people cannot see it !!!!!!! = Nice work, but mountain tip is diverting the focus point,... It should not be there.

  • Amazing! i watched all of ur video's and they where full of expresion and natural life!! i love your paintings! :)

  • very talented young man! good job

  • congratulations!you have a very nice drawing..Keep it up!YOu inspire a lot of us1

  • Remember to tape your paper down arigathree. I use a piece of foam board and masking tape, before you use the tape, stick it to your blue jeans so the adhesive will not rip your paper when you will it off when the painting is completed. You will end up with a nice strong white edge when you pull the tape back. Good luck and have fun! There are so many right ways to paint, everyones technique is different, I am an art teacher and this method has helped save my students from cumpled paintings.

  • ya don't paint landscape on portrait position, silly rabbit

  • landscapes can be painted either portrait or landscape depending on the composition that the artist chooses

  • wow ! you are really good at painting ! :)

  • very nice :)

  • brilliant <3

  • im retty good at drawing and i just started water coloring in our 8th grade art class. I'm really bad at it because the paper rips. Can u give me any advice?

  • heavier paper... There is special paper for watercolor go try it out bro

  • ok my teacher gave us a paper that she said is good for watercoloring, but it still ripped. Its a bit thicker than regular paper. Does the 'special paper' you're talking about rip? Also maybe its because im doing the wash method

  • Why don't you buy your own set of watercolour paper, arigathree? Some good brands are CAMPAP and Windsor. Just go to your local art stores and ask for some good watercolour paper.

Try getting thick and medium-rough paper, around 300gsm. That'll be good.

    Hope I helped. ^^

  • great painting

  • You should not let the colour set abroach like that, because all the result you get, it happening by accident. The true skill is to control all of your colours and to do (but before everything, to know), exactly what you want. And what's that motive? Try something harder and more impressive.

Take a look at Alex Ross' work, here, on youtube. You'll see what I mean.

  • super nice..cool-t ♥

  • ^___________^ this is lovely

  • he could have painted a rustic frame, quadro riportato style

  • This was very intersting to see. It is enjoybale to see the difference between th western and chinese method of painting.

    Thanks for posting this.

  • that is very nice, you inspired me to paint!

  • Nice, I've never seen a painted outlined border on a watercolor before.

  • wow! that's awesome!

  • wow are you looking at that landscape to draw it or is that a memory or imagination thing??

  • @crosspecans

There's already a pencil sketch, so he probably went somewhere, drew that, and then came home and painted it.

    @video

    Nice painting. :D

  • Respect !

  • Wow! Watercolor can be a difficult medium to control-especially with too much water. You have a very amazing control over it! Very neat and beautiful work! xD

  • wow! amazing!

  • nice ;) ...i like the paper..

  • beautiful...

  • stunning

  • respect

  • beautiful painting!

  • beautiful! Watercolor is my favorite kind of painting; I hope someday I'll be able to do it this well....^^

  • a real good one. thanks. come see mine.

  • Nice work. It would be helpful as a tutorial if you spoke about what you're doing (wet, dry, kind of paper, etc.).

  • fabulous

  • amazing

and i really liked the way you did the border, I'll have to try that out

  • love it! did u wet the paper first btw?

  • thanks for the vid, im thinking on starting painting my drawings with watercolors , i have a question tho, do you need a special thick paper when using watercolor painting? or is it any sheet the same?

  • beautiful piece. you showed great character dude. if i may suggest on the subject of the art, you could have avoided putting those black fences in!

  • nonsense! the fences are a great addition to the piece.

  • that was fast. doing something like that would take me ages!

  • The harder I try to draw something like that, the uglier it becomes!

  • i could never paint in complete silence i have to listen to music or sumthing

  • That was Awesome!!!

  • Amazing.

  • Hey just wondering - how'd you paint that? is it out of your head, a picture lying in front of you, are you just looking out the window...?

    Excellent painting btw :-)

  • what paper should i use for water color? tnx

  • There is different types, i like using 280gsm watercolour paper you can buy it on ebay

  • the hardest thing for me is leaving the white bits white

  • SZÉP!5/5

  • How do you know when to stop? It seemed there were several points in your demonstration where you could have left it alone and still it would've made a nice painting.

  • NIIIICE! so amazing!!

    keep it up!!

  • good video. what type of water color paper is that?

  • nice ,awesome video .... nice ,awesome video ....

  • I like the details!

  • what are painting on.

  • really nice painting, im just starting water colour and would love to be able to paint like you. thanks

  • Very Talented :) I like the way you use color

  • I love your tehnique!

  • it was so good

  • very pretty love how you put that mountains in the distance.

    Charlene

  • thats so sexy

i used to do water color painting but then i got tired of it cuz i had to use like all the different colors and everytime i did this kind of thing i thought it came out crappy so i stopped

but i think ill take up watercolor painting again after seeing this video... xD

  • thank you very much. i learned a lot

  • Very very awesome, babe

  • ..Wow.. excellent job. You make it look easy.

Im trying to learn the basic of watercolor for doing concept sketches...its no easy task haha.

  • hey your work is awesome...good job!!!

  • hi im just 11 years old, and i want to be just like you. maybe can u show a tutorial or something? can u add me as a friend? thank you! its BEEEAAAATTIIIIFFFUUULLL

  • very nice, you are highly skilled =)

  • excellent videos. What paper do you use?

  • I used a coarse handmade paper.

  • You're very talented! Such a pretty painting! :)

  • That was Awesome!!!

  • painting with watercolor is a challenge and a half. you do it really well. Beautiful job

  • you can prevent the rippling, first by using the right drawing paper w/c is the strathmore and after you tape it around on the board, soak it in water, let it dry and your ready to paint.

  • Thanks for sharing your art and your hands are beautiful.

  • What could I say except thank you !

  • love it! i'll try to do something like it as soon as possible!

  • aaaah man this was so much better than those boring tv shows... thanks for posting it! it was really fun and educative

  • I am learning to paint in watercolors. and I love landscapes. Very nice painting. Thank you for the video.

  • Okay, I think that's where I messed up. You painted this in a very minimalistic way, whereas I did layer upon layer with my watercolor, using it like it was acrylic. the result was really muddy with a highly unflattering texture, since it was a portrait.

  • HI moderndaymonk,

Remember always use a thick brush when using watercolor and don't care too much of the details. Try to keep the freshness of the paper intact and you will produce good results. If you have shot a video just let me know.

  • NICE!!!!! OMG!!!!

I'm a watercolor artist too, and artists hat this, but I think you can improve a lot if youfollow the forms a little bit better. What I mean...sometimes your hand can run freely...when it come to clouds or grass, but some other times you have to use a small brush and indulge in details...and the forms must be straight, well defined and detaild. I love your work!

  • Thanks micky for the suggestion. I will try to do so in the upcoming videos.

  • salaam

its great, but if at the end (and maybe even throughout) you could show a close of of it that would be kool

    peace out

  • Nice work!!! waiting for your next painting tutorial.

  • AZU Q CAPO

  • wonderful..just wonderful..
