@xXfuzzyyetiXx I am still reading more about the tie in between the Korean War and Vietnam. Remember this was again tied together with fighting Communism and the Cold War. President Kennedy wanted to help the Vietcong but not actually go to war with the Vietnamese. It was Johnson who said "Let's draft some men to fight over there." Realistically, this war was a mistake because it was not run by our military, it was run by the White House.

Look up Prager University's Why America Won the War: communism has not prevailed, but crumbled in the years following that war. It's the nature of communism, as is stated. Even Vietnam, though still claiming to be Communist, shows capitalism permeating throughout. So, it's a matter of debate. We won all major battles, killed more of them than they did us and yes we withdrew due to the heavy protests of the left, but in the end, we who stands for freedom and capitalism have prevailed.

I'm in no way a supporter of communism but we should remember the death the Vietnam war caused in both sides, especially to the civilians caught in the firestorm. The government doesn't really care about it's men at the battle field, They are just like a chess piece. remember Agent Orange?

And, let me tell ya, I wouldn't doubt it at the rate everything is going. I am leaning towards that view more and more. I would like to think that our government knows how to win a war as has been proven time and again. I, too, am leaning towards the view that this was planned (we were restricted to do many things during this war, mind you). Why?

Sometimes it's just good to feel like everything is fine and nothing wrong is really happening; although while the time passes by, the US government is going trough a lot of change that is against it's own constitution. It's sad to say that it's not so different from communism. Majority of European countries is already a globalized nations(EU). US will soon follow up w/ the bills being passed like Patriots act and so forth.

It's part of the PLAN. Soon we'll all be unified under 1 global gov't with a dictator who can track every move & transaction. It's all part of the plan. Obama is not the Messiah as the mislead like to proclaim. The Messiah, Jesus Christ, is waiting in the wings to establish HIS government for us-if U believe.

@heavenlybeast1 agree, Majority of people doesn't seem to understand where the problem is coming from and only believe what the Mainstream says. I already lost my faith about Religious Hierarchy and the Bible, I still have a strong faith that God is watching us. I just don't get the idea of divine stuff that a group of religious scholars collected and put together in a collection of books (Bible) and remove stuff that doesn't fit to their understanding. It seems heavily flawed.

@heavenlybeast1 In addition, Christianity, Islam, and Judaism believe in one god but their holy books contradicts each other and changes over time and w/ different interpretations while time passes by that gives me the conclusion that holy books are not meant to say the word of god but to manipulate the understanding of the people like a propaganda system. I don't mean to insult holy books because I'm a christian myself but find myself putting my faith in god and not holy books.

@DragonOfPersia That's not true at all. The original copy of the Quran If you look at it, there's different sects w/ different wordings. W/ variant readings of the Koran, confusion of the translation can be predominant because when it was made originally, there was no vowel marks. Meanings can differentiate a lot. All in all, there's no such thing as "pure". Many are manipulated depending on the understanding and the likes of the recent scholars at that time.

The North DID NOT win over the U.S. America whipped the Viet Cong time and again and bombarded them into signing a treaty that included an agreement that they would not attack the South once we left. The cowards waited til the big dogs left the yard and then went back on their word.

US could have won the war more easily if not because of the pressure from the Soviet Union and China, limiting the force they can use and the place they can or can't attack. US only wants to keep the division of both North and South like in Korea because if they invade the North, China and USSR would have joined the war and could turn into a WW3. North won because of political reasons.

The North was not to attack the South once we left, but they did. I just wonder if the Cong knows that they are not superior to us. From what I see on their publications, they like to tout themselves as winners over a superpower, which is not good on our part. It's about gettin' the job done and saving face. Did we?

@heavenlybeast1 politics and war support at that time was heavily divided and the worst thing came after the Watergate scandal that forced Nixon out of the white house. SV only need air support but with congress passing a bill blocking any further intervention and Nixon out of the way, it's a massacre for the South. In addition, The South could have somehow lasted longer or even successfully defend itself if the government and the military was not so corrupt.

I am English but even though our Prime Minister kept us out of Vietnam it was still a big deal over here as well. I amazed at the quality of the film and the overall reportage is so real compared to what we get nowadays. It just seems like that George Orwell book 1984. We used to be at war with the Eurasia but now we are war with Eastasia. I hope that they don't decide that we need a bigger war to kickstart the flagging global economy.

@ashokkartik41 bro, the north BARELY won, and that is an understatement. the only reason we pulled out is because peoples support in the war was steadily decreasing. we never lost a major engagement. the tet offensive is really what ended the war for the U.S. even though it was a massive american victory, and other victorious search and destroy missions were we hunted the nva and vietcong on the run.

They showed a guy who missed the boat but survived the impact of the crash into the water and they saved them and he said he was forced to do it and he was scared too.
