The Turks on the Balkans where also mixing with all the other local inhabitants, but still, to this day, I have neighbours Turks who still speak turkish, although everyday they communicate in macedonian also. There are Turks in Macedonia, whose native language is turkish, who kept their old customs. Bosnian Muslims, Gorans, Sandzak people and Torbeshi are NOT Turks, they are natives (aborigine) who took the muslim faith. Why the local Turks didn't forget their mother language through the centuries? Because you can't forget that, it's the basis!
I also think that Bosnian Orthodox and Catholic shouldn't be equaled with the neighbouring nations of Croats and Serbs, like the Montenegrin Catholics are not Croats by default, or Macedonian Muslims are not Turks or Albanians... And as a province it had much more autonomy than most provinces in the Ottoman Empire.

There are Turks in Macedonia, whose native language is turkish, who kept their old customs. Bosnian Muslims, Gorans, Sandzak people and Torbeshi are NOT Turks, they are natives (aborigine) who took the muslim faith. Why the local Turks didn't forget their mother language through the centuries? Because you can't forget that, it's the basis!

I also think that Bosnian Orthodox and Catholic shouldn't be equaled with the neighbouring nations of Croats and Serbs, like the Montenegrin Catholics are not Croats by default, or Macedonian Muslims are not Turks or Albanians... As for bosnian language and bosniacs,these terms have been forbidden only during relativ short time(Yugoslavia).The bosnian kings named themselvs and their people bosniacs,naver serbs or croats(read "povelja kulina bana").And the only reason,that serbs have massacred bosniacs during the history is thinking like yours and as revenge to the ottomans.Write on bosnian if you want me to coninue,because I cant express me well on english.

Bosna was NEVER a country until NOW. If you know your history it has always been part of the Serbian Empire,& yes a Serbian Empire existed before the Ottoman conquest. Bosna was a territory,a sandzak- never a country until now. Please read Selimovic's 'Death & the Dervish'.Who was doing all this "forbidding" you alude to? Tito was Croat/Slovene & aloud 700 Djamije's (mosque)to be built during his time, when not a single Serb Orthodox church was rebuilt or repaired after WW2 under his rule. WHY?

Bosnia was a country. It existed in the 1000s. Read some stecci imbacile. The first ban who had independence was Kulin in 1180 and it continued into the kingdom under Tvrtko and ended in 1463.
And as a province it had much more autonomy than most provinces in the Ottoman Empire.

That's because the conversion of the Bosnian Serbs to ISLAM was one of the quickest & most quantitive than any ethnic group in the Balkans at that time. ACtually the orthodox before the Ottomans were confined to a few families within Bosnia proper and to Hercegovina. Bosnians are not Serbs that is laughable, maybe because history books are based on previous writers of Serbian stock who base this crap on nothing? Actually it was one of the slower processer.
