thats not a small jump by any means, so yeah you need to do it right. you wouldve been better not to lazy vault it but instead to simply drop straight down from either standing or sitting on the edge. forward roll isnt necessary with a straight drop like that, you just have to transfer the force following you outward once you hit the ground. its seems funny, but land as much like spider man as you can. squat, let your hands hit the ground. land like a spring. *source: experience

After the jump, his legs were dangling everywhere while your legs need to be straight out to prepare for the touch. And when you hit the ground, bend your knee "a little" then IMMEDIATELY turn to rolling. If not either your ankles or knees will hurt right away.

I was on crutches for 6 months, and still have two screws in my leg (there were 4, but they took two out once it healed). I wasn't in much pain until I was in the car on the way, then the adrenaline wore off.
