  • I like both his version and congregations version. A lovely song is a lovely song no matter who sings it.

  • muchos rubbishos

  • My Young's version ain't that bad, but Congregation is the one i love. Used to play it over and over as a kid. Thank you for putting this on YT thou. It's a nice version

  • Anyone doing a cover lays themselves open to criticism from those who preferred the original version - goes with the territory. Gotta give credit to PY for staying quite faithful to the original melody and style (Congregation - Top 10 UK Jan.1972) although he's done a lot better and given more powerful performances.

  • @shaggybristol I totally agree with you. I used to listen to The Congregation version as a kid on my dad's record player so initially I felt that Paul Young's attempt ruined that memory for me somehow. Looking back on it objectively, Young's version isn't shabby at all even if he is determined to lose his way by overemphasis sometimes. It's nice that he put a different and softer spin on the song.

  • That song is so muuuuch beautiful, a treasure!!!!!

  • This song is soooooo sweet and beautiful, I love Paul Young's version and all of his great discography.

  • forgot just how good he did cover versions, pity you never hear him much these days.

  • SORRY I loved Paul Young but how dare he do this to a classic

  • paul had his work cut out covering this ,but he did a pretty good job.

he had a decent ammount of succses and it was deserved. he still tours now god bless him and has a good following.
