I can, at times, see where certain individual Christians are persecuted - or where they believe they're persecuted when church is ruled to stay out of state affairs and public property. I can see it... however shallow and pedantic it may be compared to the persecution of gays, blacks, etc.

I live in Seattle, a VERY liberal anti-christian city and I was told by the owner of a restaurant in Seattle I would not be served beause of my conservative Christian beliefs. I in no way provoked or even offered my opinions in anyway, I was asked which way I believed and then when i gave the wrong answer in thier eyes, I was told I was not welcome in thier restaurant and wouldn't be served. True Story! Is that not persecution!!? It IS happening in the country, more often as time goes on!
It is hard for me to believe that the proprietor of a restaurant asked out of the clear blue (or rainy gray in the case of Seattle) sky your religious views in order to decide whether to serve you or not.

I got in trouble for explaining to kids the word in their language arts book. the word was "miracle." Thje kids were in fifth grade and were given the definition of the word miracle as the breaking of natural laws, etc. Then in their Chapter books butterflies were mentioned as miracles and the kids were confused. I gave them the example of the cartoon then popular where Moses parted the red sea as a miracle - i was chastised in front of the class by my supervising teacher. Christ rebuke them.

I've read the bible numerous times and prayed much before giving up althogether. I no longer believe he exists. If one day I stand before him I will ask him why he chose to ignore my ernest prayers, and also ask why he didn't give me something more concrete to solidify a belief in him.

with all due respect, I don't think there is AS MUCH persecution against Christians in the USA as there is of other belief systems. Thats not to say it doesn't happen, but given that many atheists and muslims are banned from holding office in several states, coupled with the religious test for office, i remember vividly how that was one of the big issues people had with Obama. So I responded with an exhaustive list of countries that are facing extreme persecution. I wanted to let them see that the world is against Christ and that the road America is on is leading in the same direction. We know it'll be here, its just doing what we can until then (and even after).

Even Roman Catholics are condemned by the self-righteous Christians - protestants - they prostest anything against that does not fit into their cult beliefs. Catholics don't condemn, don't judge, but exemplify the love and compassion of Jesus and Mother Mary. When I gaze at the Madonna or the pictures of Jesus (which the Christians call idols), I see love, my heart is felt with such gender and tender feelings of the the loving holy Mother of all humans. When I see Christians, I see hatred.

Christians are not Christians - they r protestant - protesting against thing against their narrow-minded self-interpretation of the bible - ignoring many teachings indulging in sexual sins (premarital sex, contraception, abortion, breaking marriage vows,divorce and remarry,) but pick one or two to condemn others.

The King James Version of the bible is the only true version of the bible to exist and it was not spawned from the Catholic Church

Anyway, what's wrong with having the Bible translated into the language of its readers? Also the King James Bible was based on a very inaccurate Greek version and ironically commisioned by a King who was most likely gay.

If they wanna see Christians persecuted, they should go to China or North Korea, which jail Christians on a regular basis, or to Saudi Arabia, where you can be executed for even owning a Bible. When the government starts shutting down churches and/or rounding up clergy and hauling them off to jail, THEN I'll believe that Christians are being persecuted.

I can, at times, see where certain individual Christians are persecuted - or where they believe they're persecuted when church is ruled to stay out of state affairs and public property. I can see it... however shallow and pedantic it may be compared to the persecution of gays, blacks, etc.
However, I wonder... those who use their perceived persecution to reinforce their belief by claiming it's a sign of the end times are a special breed.

I think it really betrays a fundamental lack of empathy and a piss poor understanding of Christian history... especially early Christian history.
For the first 200 years the Romans considered them little more than a Jewish sect and treated them accordingly. Worse, when Nero blamed them for the burning of Rome they were hunted and fed to the beasts in the Colosseum.
What is it, exactly, about today's so called "persecution" is in any way worse or indicative of "end times" than the early days?

I live in Seattle, a VERY liberal anti-christian city and I was told by the owner of a restaurant in Seattle I would not be served beause of my conservative Christian beliefs. I in no way provoked or even offered my opinions in anyway, I was asked which way I believed and then when i gave the wrong answer in thier eyes, I was told I was not welcome in thier restaurant and wouldn't be served. True Story! Is that not persecution!!? It IS happening in the country, more often as time goes on!

And if the flood killed all the plants that created air, and thus the dinos, how did whales and elephants survive? Are you saying that whales and elephants were smaller then but got bigger since? Christians once held that the world was literally the center of the universe and that all the stars and planets revolved around it. When Galileo proved otherwise, he was hauled before the Inquisition for heresy. In fact they burned a colleage of his for advancing that the Earth revolved around the Sun.

I got in trouble for explaining to kids the word in their language arts book. the word was "miracle." Thje kids were in fifth grade and were given the definition of the word miracle as the breaking of natural laws, etc. Then in their Chapter books butterflies were mentioned as miracles and the kids were confused. I gave them the example of the cartoon then popular where Moses parted the red sea as a miracle - i was chastised in front of the class by my supervising teacher. Christ rebuke them.

she was just using an example, don't chastise her for using a simple scenario to help young children understand. A butterfly is not a miracle..but healing the blind and stuff like that would be considered so. She wasn't forcing beliefs but merely drawing a scenario she has heard in her life.
