Why not make a law that the nets HAVE to be a certain size hole? And if a smaller net is caught onboard the USA or UK (wherever the boat is closest to in the atlantic) gets to keep that boat ;) problem solved.

we have canine teeth. we are ominovores. although i think that "our fair share" was a bad statement. nature will and has adapted to our needs as well as other animals needs, but vacuming up wildlife we depend on, like we vacum oil and consumables, needs to be kept to a even level so that we all survive.

1) people find it barbaric when a cannibal eats another human, so why ISNT it barbaric that we take 10 percent of an animals population for our personal gain?
No, im not vegan, but I think like a Native would when they go hunting.A native american would make sure they dont wipe out a full herd of an animal so that they have more for later.

You may be able to sustain a meat-less diet today, but ONLY because civilization (the thing you villify) allows it with enhanced trading and diet-science.
Early on as we evolved, it was necessary to have meat in the diet so that we could produce the amino acids needed to eventually reshape and retool our brains. Without protien, no amino acids, no brain growth.
In other words, if vegetarians existed 100k years ago, we wouldn't exist now. Pleasant thought, isn't it?

Okay, I've been a vegetarian. I will probably agree with you on some fact's.I am an animist. Killing a plant or a beast is no different for me. Being a vegetarian far from increases your intelligence. We still have to kill plant's to eat. You are also saying that other animals are unintelligent, because they eat meat, I think we are intelligent in many ways... but we could learn alot of another animal. other animals don't kill more than they utilize. land animals are often bred for food, not that i agree with killing them because i don't. i will not go on and on about the numerous ill-effects of raising livestock for food. ocean fish, however are not being bred and are dwindling in numbers having a detrimental effect on the oceans'ecosystem.this is very serious!!! picking lettuce does not have a negative impact on the planet. see einstein's quote about 'a vegetarian diet'.

If other animals had our population and the omnivorous pattern, they sure as heck would "utilize" more than the land could sustain. Thats how animals behave when presented with abundant resources, human or not human.
As much as people hate to admit it, the human drive is animal in nature. Biology tells us to acquire more food in the case of loss later on. This translates into 'selfish harvisting' of food sources when we believe its available.
Not saying its good, just saying its animal.

Like I said, you may hate to admit it, but we are animals with biological animal drives. Nature is not PC, and it is not careful. It is savage and makes us do things that are particularly stupid.
Example, mid-life cheating males. Females near 40 lose fertility. Ever wonder why men at 40 often ditch perfectly good life mates for a "younger model"? Biology! Not a smart move, but a biologically explainable one. Same with food consumption.
