@VicenteKidd i never noticed first time round, but it really does, not at the start but slightly into it it starts to look like it's been fast forwarded.
who needs a double bass pedal? well drummers like george kollias and travis smith need them for the trash metal or death metal (all metal) beats. anyone can heel toe. ik travis barker can
@happyxtonez , yeah metal requires a double kick for those fast 16th notes. however, a lot of drummers are beginning to use a double pedal for doubles and triplets... which is fine, but limits your left foot work on youre hi-hat. and I dont heel-toe.. I just toe:) thanks for the comment-dar
@JosiahSCooper Double pedals don't limit the amount of work your left foot is doing, they limit the amount of work your left foot is doing on the hi hat, which is exactly what he said.
sick sounding kit mate. so hard to find them in the UK :( your single pedal work has inspired me to practice it loads and sell my double pedal lol who needs one? xD
would it be cool to ask what foot technique your using? it looks kinda like the slide but maybe its heel-toe or something. cheers
wow, every single time i used to see the orange county drumsets in musicians friend, i thought that they were just another beginners company. but wow, these sound incredible!
well ocdps made in California are pro-level custom drums. but now guitar center is selling a mid-level kit called the OCDP avolon series or newport series, these are made over seas and are mass production. SO if you want an OCDP make sure its a custom one from their small shop
i coulda swore two years ago, is aw you playing at the sacramento dixieland jazz festival in a band called "the Raisin Babies" my bad! still good chops bro.
hey bro. that beat is hard to explain, just look up basic latin rhythms and then you can get creative with it as I did. ill see if i can find a video that brakes down a latin groove for you- dar
dude do u do those quick doubles with just one foot? shit i'm trying to get mine faster but i just tense up and its sloppy. you got any suggestions or technique? i used to do heel toe but it put pressure on my calf. now i just play heel up and just try to give an extra push for the double, but i don't know if i'm doing it rite.
it deff takes practice just like anything else... try doing 2hits with hands and 2 with foot... start very slow and work up the speed. doubles are a great way to speed up your kick foot
yea dude doubles are sick great for solos... and yea i agree with u who needs a double bass pedal just check out travis barker and jojo mayer no double bass required lol
Yep, that's the thing, those heads are great, and I just thought that any drum company is cheap enough not to sell their drums with such nice heads on (just kidding). Very nice tunning by the way, mean it. And nice playing, too. Regards from Mexico. Peace.
Very cool, have you ever thought about trying the Guitar centers drum off, sing ups are going on right now at your local guitar center check it out mite be your new chance at another free ocdp kit. (that is if u win)
So, I heard you can take a piece of metal and unscrew the pedal itself, and screw the piece of metal to it, extending the pedal, according to your foot length... So you can get 2 strokes out of 1 foot, from your heal, and front. I coulnd't see if that's what you did, but if it isn't... That is one fast foot you got there...
awesome playing and video. i love to hear those double-stroke bass to tom and snare rolls. i'm always working on mine. what size are your drums? 20x22 bass? i like your tom sound a lot. evans g2 clear heads? i like the video speed...60fps is awesome.
Dude I love it... but this camera makes your snare sound funny. Almost like you have the snares off.. haha But yeah, sick drumming! My OCDP is almost done... only another week or two!
I wish to have one of those sets but someone that has one told me that they wont stay in tune for long...and start to sound bad after 2 hours or so...and I hate to admit is true...the avalon and a custom made one indeed goes out of tune whan played for very long...are you having tipe of trouble with yours???
haha, well DWs are very nice too. I owned one until I sold it for a down payment for the OCs. But I must say that OCs are all about detail!!!, even the screws are stainless steel...... thanks for the comment- dar
dude you don't need to speed urself up to impress people you got style...it wasn't the hands tht show it it was the speedy head jestures ... all luv no hate bro
thanks.. and I can totally see what you are saying... but honestly I wouldn't even know how to speed up a video. This was shot with a picture camera and thats why the clip is exactly 1min and cuts-off. its an awful video recording and the framing looks weird. I will post a better video soon with a real camera. I can actually play even faster than this...... but speed is not everthing
well OC's are maid with keller shells, and if tuned correctly the shells will have a strong full sound...... I use a 2ply head on top and 1ply on bottom. the thickness of the shell matters too, mine are 6ply shells so they sing when you hit them.
your comment are words of wisdom! most drummers are only impressed by speed, when in reality hand control at lower tempos is more challenging. I practice both slow and fast tempos, but this video is not sped up, I can actually play even faster than that- dar
Yeah, the best drummer I've ever played with used a click during practice sessions. He actually made ME a better guitar player. I found myself nailing Petrucci riffs when I hadn't prior.
Furthermore, I'm impressed by a drummer who can a) write a line that when heard solo the guitar/vocal riff is identifiable and b) do beats that are unexpected and anticipate new ideas in the song.
I didnt own my own drumset my whole life. so I would practice with a bass pedal on my couch!! haha ghetto. I finally got my own kit tho... and I love it. I grew up playing every sunday at my church.
O_O same here... scary - after playin at my church for a couple of years i finally saved up enough money for my own decent set. You are a lot better than me tho :D lol

your orange county kit sounds amazing but you have to realize that you could have bought a pearl or a tama set for significantly less and gotten comprable sound.
um well it really depends on what sound you are looking for. OCDP's are significantly louder than most drumkits, and also tend to have more resonance ass well as control. If you play an OCDP next to a tama and pearl. the OCDP will over power the others and have fuller sound. this video clip was made with a small cybershot picture camera, but even that little camera captured the full sound these kits are designed to have. thanks for the comment man.......
hey i just want to say that if would live where you live i would start a band with you and become famous cause you are a fucking awesome drummer!!!!!!!!
thanks man. I am using evans g2clear tops, and g1 bottoms. As far as tunning.... I switch it around, dependding on what type of music im plaing, in this vid they are tunned little on the tight side.- dar

your orange county kit sounds amazing but you have to realize that you could have bought a pearl or a tama set for significantly less and gotten comprable sound.

um well it really depends on what sound you are looking for.
