wow never seen that much water sprayed on a pkg b4. i tap the box down, allowing bees to fall to the bottom. place queen in hive and set the whole box in the hive. that way when i remove the pkg box the next day, all the dead bees go out w the box and don't stay in the hive.
@honeymaker42 There are a bunch of different way of putting them in the hive. I prefer to just shake them in and let them take out their dead. This way I can wait a little longer to check in on them, giving them time to accept their new home without disruption.
@DAVID0665 It's sugar water. After I got the bees home I couldn't put them in the hive for a few days, plus it help make them a little more docile and easier to work with.
@thirteenfingers I plan on doing a couple more videos this summer and no she hasn't clammed down since this one. I just wished I would have had my camera last summer when I was harvesting honey, because that would have been an even better video than this one. I had to stop taking honey supers off cause I was laughing so hard.
i would like you to post a video for when you do a honey extraction and have her taste the results..i would absolutely love to be able to set up a top bar hive myself and have gotten my own wife to watch a lot of these types of videos with me

Has she calmed down about bees at all now you have a hive and they don't sting everyone to death at every opportunity?

The outside of the hive is Behr Transparent waterproofing wood finish with the penetrating oil formula. I made the deep hive body from a kit.

We were laughing the whole time, not from being mean but remembering some of the same comments coming from my family while installing packages.
Three weeks late though I catch my wife out with the bees watching them coming and going finding them amazing.
