That's actually a common misconception. The number really refers to a Roman emperor (I want to say Nero, but I'm not sure) who was responsible for hunting down a great deal of Christians during his reign. They used the number to refer to him without openly speaking his name as a sort of code.

you can do more than punches and kicks: sliding (which is more effective than regulars attacks)

just do this: jump a little forward, and then, a little time before you touch the ground, push attack button + down at the same time (it's a little hard to do when you do it this way, but I THINK that if you hold down button a little time before pushing attack button, you will do it by an easier way)

and you can punch those heads: you dont need to jump!

well, not really: I personally find Splatterhouse 2 harder than Splatterhouse 3. (as Splatterhouse 3 is played like Streets of Rage or Double Dragon + capability to morph into Mutant Rick !)
