This is a very good song and its well put together by its creator of the clip.

Please note though Comanche was not Custer's horse it was Colonel Keoghs horse. Colonel Keogh was a Brevet General and he is actually singing about him and the horse. Keogh was not at Custer's side during the battle he was some hundred way down in a second ring and died surrounded by more of his men than any other company commander and lasted the longest before being over whelmed.

Custer was brave and so was Comanche they both went down with a big fight especially Custer because my Great Great Grandpa watched the battle and told this all his life that Custer and Comanche went down with a fight.

Custer was a Lt Colonel, not a General, who disobeyed orders to await the arrival of General Crook. He had previously been responsible for the murder of many Native American women and children, and when it came to it his tactics were no match for those of Crazy Horse. 'Comanche you fought hard' ? I mean this horse went out with a sabre or a rifle?

Pure romanticizing of the "noble savage", just like the stupid Hollywood westerns.This guy was born in California JUST 8 YEARS after the last official battle against U.S. Native Americans in the neighboring state of Arizona. What did he know about what real American Indian tribes & people were going through? He just lived on their land and sang sad songs about their defeat that made him rich and famous. Big deal. Helps assuage the guilt though doesn't it....

Great song, but the idea that Comanche was the sole survivor is not accurate, there were most likely hundreds of other horses that either escaped into the wild blue yonder or were taken by Lakota and Cheyenne after the battle.

Great job. COMANCHE is now in the Natural History Museum at the University of Kansas in Lawrence, Kansas. There is an old Walt Disney movie that portrayed the legend. Bad on facts but entertaining. Starred Sal Mineo (you must be old to remember this.) Movie was called TONKA.

yes there is. It's by Walt Disney. Its first title was "TONKA" then they changed it years later to 'Comanche" or something to that effect.

I read Commanche was Captain Miles Keogh's horse and he was found badly wounded after the battle. Most horses were either driven off by the Indians (leaving the soldiers doomed) or where used as a defence shield by the soldiers. Commanche was taken by steamer to Fort Lincoln. He recovered and became the 7th Cavalry mascot. He died in 1891 and was stuffed and displayed in a museum in Kansas. Custers dog, Tucker, was believed to have been killed in the battle.
