never thought i would catch up with song again, Chris Howland was a TV presenter on commercial television in the northwest of England in the early 60's before dissapearing to the continent, good to hear it again after all these years.
@1georg57 like u i prefer Bobby Helms singing it. Maybe because i can understand Bobby Helm and can't this guy. His version chris Howland seems off track part of the time and Bobby Helms sings it like it should be sung. If u can't sing it right don't sing it.
tubephobia, great to see you posted the juke box songs of 58, but havent you forgotten some , i was there in 56 to 59, and in every jukebox there was a copy of the radetsky march and various strauss numbers , we made a funny sight waltzing around the floor with army issue hobnail boots , to the radetsky march , thanks for bringing back memories , jim old soldier ,
chris howland sung this in english in the early 50s , he stayed in germany and the last i heard he was retired living in the cologne areac , he was nicknamed mr pumpennickel by the german radio listeners , jim ,
I didn't know that there was a German version of this song, one of my favourites when I grew up in Germany and listened to the US and Canadian military radio stations and took a shine to Country and Western.
1958, ach ja. The River Kwai Buona Sera Fred Bertelmann: Der lachende Vagabund Sail along silvery moon Conny Froboess, Caterina Valente: Spiel noch einmal für mich Habanero, Lolita: Der weisse Mond von Maratonga, Freddy, Peter Kraus: Hula Baby, Vico Torriani, Caterina Valente: Wo meine Sonne scheint, Chris Howland: Fräulein. Danke !

Great to hear this again after so many years. It was popular on the Juke Boxes in the Wirtschafts in Germany in the late 50s.Probably superceeded by "Morgan" Also sung of course by Elvis.

@1georg57
