What you're thinking of here is most likely that fact that Opel is owned in it's entirety by GM. However, this does not mean that GM was involved in much (if any) of the design process for the Insignia at all, only it's money. That would be like saying the Opel Kadett was designed by Americans, for crying out loud! xD

Buick sells more cars in China than they do in America, and most of those cars are made in China. So does that mean that Chinese made Buicks aren't really Buicks??
