USA and British military combined with the jews in all of the major operations against the arabs to ensure that their Cold War weapon would survive. The jews were definitely no "underdog" in 1948, 1956, 1967 or 1973 since Israel always had far more troops and also superior air-to-ground weapons.

Furthermore, the USSR, not the US/UK, was responsible for arming the Israelis in 48 through Czechoslovakia. In fact, the UK had this guy, Glubb (love the name), who commanded the Jordanian Arab Legion (you know, the only Arab army ever to beat the IDF) and captured Jerusalem. Also, if US forces helped Israel in 56, why on earth would they immediately order a withdrawal from Sinai via the UN and help Egypt?

@CondensedHistory: true in 67, though that advantage was enhanced when they blew up all the MiGs in Egypt. 48 though... read again. They halted a Syrian armored advance (1 brigade inf, 4 battalion armored vehicles/ artillery) with 150 men at Degania who were armed with nothing more than rifles, molotovs, and two 1900-vintage 20mm guns. I don't call that numerical or materiel superiority. Also, US, UK didn't help Israel in 48 or 67, and US didnt in 56.

the jews were certainly no "underdog" in 1967 against the arabs. In 1948, 1956 and 1967 the Israeli jews had far more troops and far superior weapons and airstrike capability than the arab nations. America and Britain created Israel together in 1948 as a strategic Cold War ploy against the Soviet Union. American and British military forces combined with the Israeli jews in all three major conflicts which is why the arabs were defeated.

I think the frame is simply reversed, right is left and left appearing as right.

I think you mean the LEFT eye, all of the other videos and photographs picture the LEFT eye as being lost. This is the only time I've seen it reversed to the right eye.
Its amazing, though, that I don't notice it very much when I watch him speak. I always loved the patch but I can now see that there are more important things about him.
