pbs station in ft wayne used to sign off till the late 90s. they decided to stay on 24/7 though when comcast assigned another broadcaster to it's channel after pbs signed off, at which point it be all softcore porn. i didn't have cable back then though so never saw the boobies. but the pbs station aired a short spot explaning the whole thing for about a month

Funny, this was the first Test Pattern I ever saw, I remember getting up to early and seeing this, I've sleep deprived myself many times just to recreate that. Ask my sister, she thinks I'm crazy! I think I might be slighty crazy too. I bet I was the only one upset back in '06 when the CBC went 24-Hour.

Try to find a TV station that signs off, I don't think there's any in the NJ/NY market. Sad really, I remember seeing those bars and tone as a kid...that meant I was up way past my bedtime.
