Decent ad. Of course people get butthurt when kids are indoctrinated to say things they don't like. But if they were saying "Yay democracy", that's something so widely accepted it's not considered brainwashing.
@fringeelements Well, that's the funny bit about this ad. None of these people get terribly offended when Petje Pitamientje is selling peanut butter on Dutch TV. None of these people get terribly offended when the words of Martin Luther King are put into children's mouths. Their indignation at this ad only serves to show that there really *is* something offensive about those opinions, and it would behoove them to consider not who is speaking those opinions in this ad, but where they came from.
Because of all the immigration problems a dutch politician is now leading the second largest party of the netherlands, i wonder where this will all lead... but this is not how dutch people think most of his voters are voting for him because he is the ''only one'' in parliament who adresses the integration and muslim problems all other parties neglect the whole issue... Great translation by the way :)
@DutchAfghan89 But are they "immigration" problems or problems with how law protection deals with criminal behaviour in general and especially criminal behaviour involving "minority groups"? When people start claiming that, say, people are feeling unsafe in the street because of "the Moroccans" I have to reject that. I *can* accept that there are problems with unchecked anti-social behaviour and even that Moroccan youths may be at a higher risk of getting involved in it. But why?
@DutchAfghan89 What I am saying is that *even* if you could show, with statistics or whatever, that Moroccan youth are at a higher risk at being involved in criminal activity, it's a bit too simplistic to simply point the finger at one aspect of their identity and say "hey, look, they're Muslims. There's your problem right there", when Non-islamic youth also engage in such things (so what's driving *them*?) and there are also islamic youth who *don't*.
Psst, what is the Dutch West India Company's return policy on the negroes they sold in the Americas? I hope you know they are the single most defective product in the history of international trade.
Someone alerted me to the fact that Wilders might actually parotted the phrase from Pim Fortuyn. @squeamishsquirrel Thank you, and you're right. I'm pretty sure that the parents were well aware of what the true purpose of this footage was, and that they would not have agreed to letting their children participate if they hadn't been confident that the kids themselves also understood why this was being done. Well said.
1) In context the 'Islam is a retarded culture' is not a quote by Wilders but rather by Pim Fortuyn and has been taken out of context. A cheap shot at best.
2) While I loathe the current incarnation of the VVD (yes, I am a liberal/liberaal), this little add just reeks of far left guilt-tripping. 'Vote against, where have I heard that before?)
And in the meta-game I must say this: Gridlocking Dutch govornment will only hasten the fall
cont.... of the current government (admittedly pandering way too much to Wilders and his ilk). Then we'll have new elections and a very realistic chance that Wilders and his PPV will actually come into power. Hell, we might even end up with him as prime minister.
This commercial is short-sighted and completely unrealistic as regarding to the political and electoral realities we face, An old-fashioned tear-jerker if you will.
@Rhysz1 1) nitpicking. So Wilders didn't say "retarded" but he did say "violent", he does accuse "islam" of wanting to eliminate everything else, he does call it "fascist".
2) There is no indication that the makers of this ad are telling people to vote left wing, though I will admit that if the most right-wing alternative is D'66 then ... yeah. But they're not saying you couldn't vote for one of the smaller right-wing parties.
Yes, I agree. But I can only really see two viable ways out of this. Either people start really expressing their disgust with Wilders and his proto-fascist ideology, so that those who are enamoured by it start seeing how vile it actualy is (and please suggest how they could do that better, because calm and rational objections to hysteria do not appear to work), OR let him get into power and fuck it all up once and for all, getting it out of the system
@rozeboosje Nice can of worms you opened for me there. In a weird way I was really hoping that Wilders would get into government, with the PVV as a junior coalition member. Much like Lijst Fortuyn I would have expected them to implode, how many of the PVV congressmen have been thoroughly disgraced now? In context of this video I don't think there's calm and rational arguments instead it's 'counter-hysteria'. This kind of spot is exactly what the PVV thrives on. I'm on Skype BTW.
I'm not nearly done. Please take this as friendly criticism. I find it rather curious that when you make comments on other YT'ers you comment on quote-mining and misquoting but you're letting this one slide, NOT comme il faut. Furthermore, The video ignores the political reality that the PVV has a huge electoral base and then takes it out on what amounts to all right of centre parties. If you can't vote for PVV, CDA, VVD (as this spot suggests) what's there left to vote for on the right?
@rozeboosje lots of BTW's today ^^. I can only see your first scenario leading into a French/Iatlian coalition of right and left and I don't think that's what we need.
1. De PVV die vaak de lijn overschrijd
@AJBuwalda If you don't mind I'll reply in English, as some of my non Dutch speaking friends have taken an interest in this topic. Your calling for a center party to tackle the problems with islam. Apart from the fact that this problem is basically an old 'repeat' problem (Moluks, then Surinamns, then Antlillians, the Turks, Then Moroccans/muslims) there has been enough of a center. Remember when the CD was in there and everyone was screaming bloody murder?
Cont.... Ideas of 'Cordon Sanitaire' widely bandied about? Nowadays every party has immigration platforms that aren't all that different. (The Christian Part (CDA) even has muslim congressmen and women. I don't think the problem is to be found in a new party but rather in a more stable and long term solution. As an FYI I'd like to state that the PVV does NOT advocate integration but rather assimilation. I support your ideas on critical thinking but just making up a new party is unrealistic.
This reminds of when Adam Curry returned to the Netherlands. In an interview he was asked: "What did you miss most about the Netherlands?". His answer was:" Oh, the typical Dutch things; Windmills, tulips, a nice kebab!" :)
@Rhysz1 It is not like the any of the party's in the house are going to do anything like that. Fuck it, most of their base are semi-religious who seem to think its a crime to speak out about delusional thinking. Tahn there are large quantities of bible believers who don't actually know what it says in there and just parrot what ever the local clergyman tells them. Without any sens of shame they parade around their ignorance like it a freaking medal. I weep for the world :-(
@AJBuwalda I'll agree there, Most parties seem to be cow-towing to the religious as not to rock the boat. TBF D'66 is the one party that has education pretty high on the priority list. I think we should divorce the two issues on the table, one being Wilder's islamophobia, the other being the lack of skepticism (etc) in Dutch politics. On the whole, I don't think that's a major issue though. There's enough atheists/skeptics that will parrot their 'hero's as well.
@exacerbatedtaboo Maybe I'll add an annotation because you're not the first one to think that. It's still shocking, but thankfully these kids are only actors illustrating why it's shocking, not actual kids actually parrotting Wilders' slogans.
@ToldCurkey Children are used for that all the time. Every day there are ads on the TV showing me starving children in Africa. It's disgusting to see it. Would it be better if those ads weren't shown either? Would, on the other hand, you feel equally sickened to hear a child declare that it is self evident that all humans are created equal? At first I was also quite taken aback by this ad but then I realised that maybe things have gotten so bad that it needs to be done.
@ToldCurkey Well, I think it's good for people to see the kind of horrible things that are done with children. I'm personally impressed by this ad and I wouldn't have known of its existance had it not been uploaded.
wow....not sure wich is worse, this or the Noma...both are disgusting. And hell, even if I agreed *wich maybe SMALL parts I might* how disgusting is it to use kids that probably have 0 clue beyond what their parents told them about muslims. Bet 90 of children like that be parroting, other 10% were brainwashed from day 1 to believe this nonsense...god...
So, I googled "Geert Wilders, muslims, scum", and came up with an entry from DutchNews where he referred to repeat criminal offenders as scum, and recommended that they be required to live only in certain neighborhoods (as opposed to simply putting them in prison), from which they could return after working or studying for a year or more. There's something these quotes in the commercial are missing. What's the Dutch word for "context"?
@NAARandom That is exactly what i mean, the dutch word would be samenhang or verband. They try to get rid of him, but i can say, even if he is gone, the problem is will remain.
The propaganda to influence people is unbelievable, Wilders is against islam alright, but not against the muslims already living here. The fact that they are doing the same thing with wilders like they did with Pim Fortuyn makes me sick. Using children is sick, it shows how sick our left politicians are.
@earthling41 Ok. What, exactly, is sick about it. If those children had been repeating some of the things Martin Luther King has said, would you be offended too?
Geert Wilders. He may be right about Islamic extremism, nobody wants that. But his anti immigrant stance in general will kill our country of the Netherlands. I don't hear him, or any other political party talk about the demographic problem we have. We don't get enough children to sustain the population, like many other European countries. Who is going to fill up that gap? Nederlanders?! GO BREED, if you want to keep the Netherlands Dutch. Don't blame the current minorities.
@enslavetherich he is damn right about extremists. The problem is that he is feeding right into a frenzy of bigotry by people who see ONLY extremists whenever they clap eye on anybody remotely looking like their prejudiced idea of what a "muslim" is. He himself is doing nothing to dispel such notions and the disgusting things that are said here by these kids are taken straight out of his mouth.
In the end, it's just another percieved threat from a group which eventually will enrich our culture and end up being normal. Just another group. I'm bewildered how I have found myself cought up in the bullshit of the decade. I'm sure, that if i'm 60, another group will have become the fear of the decade.
Not sure what to think of this one. PVV people will just agree with the statements and non-PVV people may find it tasteless to use children to evoke a contrast experience between message/messenger.
@wimsweden Think of it like this, it is brought the way they want you to perceive it.
In a way that we believe Wilders is against muslims, but he is not.
We do have problems in our city's, people are not save anymore and so Wilders says things like we should act ferm against them, but nowhere is 'them' restricted to muslims or foreigners.
@earthling41 Of course he isn't. As long as they shut the fuck up about their religion and they make sure they completely blend in and express absolutely *nothing* of their culture he is absolutely fine with muslims, isn't he. What a kind man he is.
@rozeboosje You know, i am not going to vote, i am not for him, i see what it does.
Do not misjudge me, they should not use children for this and come up with plain propaganda. I can think myself and i live/work with people from many country's. We are people, not dutch or marrokaan or christian or muslim. People, and the way we relate to eachother is what makes our society. Seeing politicians doing something like this is just sick.
@earthling41 Yes, but on the other hand Wilders has been insinuating his hateful message into the Dutch psyche without too much opposition for years. It has become a cancer on Dutch society. This ad has to be as shocking as it is because it has already gone too far, and it now takes drastic measures to undo some of the damage that has been done.
@rozeboosje Lots has happened here, Pim Fortuyn murdered, Theo van Gogh murdered, Ayaan hirsi ali threatened and also Wilders himself.
Lots of people attacked by youth who are mostly from marrokan parents and indoctrinated with islam religion. People have had to move because of that. Its not just Wilders talking, but how we are relate to eachother.
Given that it's not just the Dutch who've had problems with Islamic immigrants, but also the Germans, Danes, Swedes, the British, and even the French, I'm going to say it has more to do with the immigrants that "racism".
Also, "not too much opposition"? I think death threats (including some that were carried out on people he was associated with) count as opposition. Does trying to jail someone for "hate speech" count as "not too much opposition"? If this is "not too much opposition", what exactly counts as strong opposition? Killing the opponent?
@wimsweden I'm not so sure about that. I already see PVV sympathisers in a tizzy over this one. It is starting to hit home when the vileness comes out of the mouths of babes.
Isn't the point of the ad an attempt to show that what is somehow acceptable in Wilder's rant becomes pure obscenity when in the mouths of children. In other words, this cannot be an add for Wilder but against him. As such very effective; If other, here come the brown shirts.
@notonewhit Absolutely. That's exactly what this ad is about. If the listener is upset to hear this vitriol coming out of the mouths of children they might want to stop and think how they became desensitised to hearing it being spewed out by that fucking Adolf wannabe himself.
as far as what the kids are saying here in america and at a much younger age.there is alot of that going around toward the mexicans and east indians.i think alot of that come from the parents infact my mom used to tell me "dont trust black ppl"my father told me dont trust white ppl" i was brought up to hate gays.being from the aztec tribe and i dont speak for all aztecs but i can kinda see why the dutch and pat dont want islam causeing a rukus in their back yard..im not racist,i dont hate ppl
i have a question.if where ever it is these islamic people came from is so bad that they felt the need to migrate to where the dutch are now.why bring or are they bringing the same set of problems?why force your culture on another? i can understand putting up signs in different languages.i can understand helping anyone in need but if their islamic country is so great why leave?and why the dutch or even in pat condells england?
@smashbeans They're not doing that. Of course there are some who do, but that doesn't make it fair to project their extremism on all people who only happen to come from a similar cultural and religious background. It's absurd.
so what are the CDA and VVD? If they are the main centre right centre left parties of this country and if this campaign is effective then the PVV could end up with more seats than what minor parties also get voted in... perhaps someone who knows more about the dutch politics can enlighten me???
@5pecular they are both centre right. There are other parties, too, that are fairly big. PVDA, for example. It isn't, by the way, an election for parliament. They're regional elections. Traditionally these are often hijacked to send a strong message to the sitting government if people feel they're screwing up.
Politics of fear. Geweldig. LOL
Wow. I hate it when I see any religion making kids say evil stuff like that to support the faith, that's the first time I have seen a political party sink to the same level.
And when I was growing up it would be political suicide for a party to publicly say stuff like that, rather than just nursing their grudges behind closed doors with the party's faithful followers.
It is disgusting to abuse children for the sake of political factionalism and party politics. Teaching children humanist values and history has nothing to do with that. If you cannot sense that difference I am sorry for you. This spot is a desperate act of a desperate and incompetent elite and believe me it will actually drive voters to the PVV not the other way 'round.
Perhaps the point is, if you allow someone like Wilders in power, his rubbish trickles down into the minds of others, even kids.Reminds me of that scene in Schindler's List when that little girl shouts "Goodbye Jews" as they're being ghettoized. It's just a movie but similar incidents can occur.Kids don't pick intolerance off the ground.
ow, like that. Yes it made me scratch behind my ears too. However, it made me also think about 'is this the future i want for my generaion and those that follow'. Even still, Geert Wilders makes an appeal to that feeling I get when immigrants confirm the stereotype. I try to be unbiased in my assessment of both native's and immigrants' transgressions by keeping score. Writing down that last bit made me realize: that is just sad...
@VforVogter2100 I'm not entirely happy about the use of these child actors either, but on the other hand, if you start thinking about WHY you get such a visceral reaction to hearing Wilders' viscious hatred being parroted by children you start wondering what people are doing allowing this bile to slush around freely in Dutch society where children WILL pick it up. Like I mentioned to another commenter, would THIS clip provoke the same reaction: watch?v=oS0RknyyPK8 I don't think so...
@GallusSapien Well, THOSE kids, thankfully, are just actors illustrating a point. But yes. We don't want to have to wait until we hear children parrotting this for real without the slightest hint of irony.
@WeirdDeviant Yes, I have some misgivings about that too. But then again, if Wilders' utterances were actually harmless nobody would have had any problems with children repeating them, would they? That should give you pause for thought.
@WeirdDeviant Advertisers are the sickest people on earth. Ask Bill Hicks :P. Did you catch the "No pressure" campaign? his is the smurfs compared to that one.
A little tit for tat going on here, though I doubt these children came up with these words on their own, just like the Muslim children were taught to parrot hatred as well. On one hand I'm disgusted, yet on the other hand maybe "other groups" who preach hatred need a little taste of their own medicine.
@CrankyCrone anybody who preaches hatred can go eff themselves, regardless of what background they're doing it from. The kids, of course, didn't come up with those words on their own. Geert Wilders did. That's the point of this ad.

2) There is no indication that the makers of this ad are telling people to vote left wing, though I will admit that if the most right-wing alternative is D'66 then ... yeah. But they're not saying you couldn't vote for one of the smaller right-wing parties.
Not sure I understand last stmt. Fall of what?

@rozeboosje Could you please respond in the context of my entire, admittedly ranty, comment? That would make it easier on both of us I think.

Rhysz1 1 year ago
@Rhysz1 I didn't see the other two parts.
Yes, I agree. But I can only really see two viable ways out of this. Either people start really expressing their disgust with Wilders and his proto-fascist ideology, so that those who are enamoured by it start seeing how vile it actualy is (and please suggest how they could do that better, because calm and rational objections to hysteria do not appear to work), OR let him get into power and fuck it all up once and for all, getting it out of the system
rozeboosje 1 year ago
@rozeboosje Nice can of worms you opened for me there. In a weird way I was really hoping that Wilders would get into government, with the PVV as a junior coalition member. Much like Lijst Fortuyn I would have expected them to implode, how many of the PVV congressmen have been thoroughly disgraced now? In context of this video I don't think there's calm and rational arguments instead it's 'counter-hysteria'. This kind of spot is exactly what the PVV thrives on. I'm on Skype BTW.

@Rhysz1 I'm indisposed right now ... time of the day and all that ;-)

1. De PVV die vaak de lijn overschrijd
AJBuwalda 1 year ago

rozeboosje 1 year ago

AJBuwalda 1 year ago
@AJBuwalda If you don't mind I'll reply in English, as some of my non Dutch speaking friends have taken an interest in this topic. Your calling for a center party to tackle the problems with islam. Apart from the fact that this problem is basically an old 'repeat' problem (Moluks, then Surinamns, then Antlillians, the Turks, Then Moroccans/muslims) there has been enough of a center. Remember when the CD was in there and everyone was screaming bloody murder?
Rhysz1 1 year ago

Rhysz1 1 year ago
@Rhysz1 It is not like the any of the party's in the house are going to do anything like that. Fuck it, most of their base are semi-religious who seem to think its a crime to speak out about delusional thinking. Tahn there are large quantities of bible believers who don't actually know what it says in there and just parrot what ever the local clergyman tells them. Without any sens of shame they parade around their ignorance like it a freaking medal. I weep for the world :-(
AJBuwalda 1 year ago
@AJBuwalda I'll agree there, Most parties seem to be cow-towing to the religious as not to rock the boat. TBF D'66 is the one party that has education pretty high on the priority list. I think we should divorce the two issues on the table, one being Wilder's islamophobia, the other being the lack of skepticism (etc) in Dutch politics. On the whole, I don't think that's a major issue though. There's enough atheists/skeptics that will parrot their 'hero's as well.

The propaganda to influence people is unbelievable, Wilders is against islam alright, but not against the muslims already living here. earthling41 1 year ago
@earthling41 Ok. What, exactly, is sick about it. If those children had been repeating some of the things Martin Luther King has said, would you be offended too?

@rozeboosje The fact that children are used for it and put in a context that suits them who are opposed to Wilders.

earthling41 1 year ago
Geert Wilders. He may be right about Islamic extremism, nobody wants that. But his anti immigrant stance in general will kill our country of the Netherlands. I don't hear him, or any other political party talk about the demographic problem we have. We don't get enough children to sustain the population, like many other European countries. Who is going to fill up that gap? Nederlanders?! GO BREED, if you want to keep the Netherlands Dutch. Don't blame the current minorities.
enslavetherich 1 year ago
@enslavetherich he is damn right about extremists. The problem is that he is feeding right into a frenzy of bigotry by people who see ONLY extremists whenever they clap eye on anybody remotely looking like their prejudiced idea of what a "muslim" is. In a way that we believe Wilders is against muslims, but he is not.
We do have problems in our city's, people are not save anymore and so Wilders says things like we should act ferm against them, but nowhere is 'them' restricted to muslims or foreigners.
earthling41 1 year ago
@earthling41 Of course he isn't. As long as they shut the fuck up about their religion and they make sure they completely blend in and express absolutely *nothing* of their culture he is absolutely fine with muslims, isn't he. What a kind man he is.
rozeboosje 1 year ago
@rozeboosje You know, i am not going to vote, i am not for him, i see what it does.
Do not misjudge me, they should not use children for this and come up with plain propaganda. I can think myself and i live/work with people from many country's. We are people, not dutch or marrokaan or christian or muslim. People, and the way we relate to eachother is what makes our society. Seeing politicians doing something like this is just sick.
earthling41 1 year ago
@earthling41 Yes, but on the other hand Wilders has been insinuating his hateful message into the Dutch psyche without too much opposition for years. It has become a cancer on Dutch society. This ad has to be as shocking as it is because it has already gone too far, and it now takes drastic measures to undo some of the damage that has been done.
rozeboosje 1 year ago
@rozeboosje Lots has happened here, Pim Fortuyn murdered, Theo van Gogh murdered, Ayaan hirsi ali threatened and also Wilders himself.
Lots of people attacked by youth who are mostly from marrokan parents and indoctrinated with islam religion. People have had to move because of that. Its not just Wilders talking, but how we are relate to eachother.
earthling41 1 year ago
@earthling41
Given that it's not just the Dutch who've had problems with Islamic immigrants, but also the Germans, Danes, Swedes, the British, and even the French, I'm going to say it has more to do with the immigrants that "racism".
NAARandom 1 year ago
@NAARandom i know, i have seen it.
earthling41 1 year ago

Also, "not too much opposition"? I think death threats (including some that were carried out on people he was associated with) count as opposition.
n1bigdaddy 1 year ago
