If only this kind of nuance could come through on the album! Love this song, but this is just beyond amazing. The album starts out with too much of a bang. This is just real. :DDDD
Jason Robert Brown writes the most intense male vocal parts of all time. I don't think there's music of another composer that taxes the men as much as JRB's does.
@nickmalinowski04 You've got me there :D But I'll fix that statement and say "I don't think there's music of another MUSICAL THEATRE composer that taxes the men as much as JRB's does." :)
piano part: INSANE. vocal part: JUST AS INSANE. the range required for the song is ridiculous, you spend the last like 2 minutes just belting it out at the top end of your range!
But I think the piano part would require a lot and a lot of practice. No pianist has the natural ability to do that. Some male singers naturally have that range. It would take less years of practice to sing this song well than playing this song well.
it would take a singer years and years of practice to get to that level of ability. once handed the chart, it may not take them quite as long to get the chart, but you underestimate the amount of time it takes to become a singer like that, and the fine-tuning that has to go into every song. i'll agree with you that i doubt a pianist could just pick up the chart and do it, but i don't think a singer could do it very well either.
i think its pretty cool how the books lands in the box one the final beat of the song...just little things that make this performance that much better :)
It probably symbolizes all the stuff that's coming his way all at once, writing contracts, the apartment leases, etc. Or it was just thrown at that time so he could have a variety of actions during the song. Who knows. :)
