  • Looking forward to visiting Beautiful Yucatan This February.

  • You obviously did not listen to the video,he said he fell in love with Mexico,in fact, he fell in Love with a Mexican Women...

  • Maybe you can start your own community but like I tell you here you can forget about MLK day or those type of racist things just get that mentality out of your mind,, and be free and relax!..

  • @3674529 MLK Day? RACIST? Hmmm.. Merida is very beautiful. But it has it's issues.

  • Hello Jazz,

try moving to Merida I hear beautiful thing from the violence is lower then some places in the U.S, I have black Cuban friends here in Mexico and and im shure you will get plenty of respect from the locals maybe some curiosity but let me tell you you can have a fun, Relaxing life with no Hate! I tell you because I was raised in the U.S..

  • Hello, I'm retired military and can retire from State. My wife is areal estate agent and employed. We hate the mentalities found here in Baltimore. We plan to vacation again in Cancun. We love it. We are Black Americans who don't fit in with the normal low class attitudes found here in the USA. I have lived abroad several times WE want to be put in contact with other Blacks who retired there if possible.

  • Worked, lived in Mexico for almost 15yrs ... changed my life!! Retiring with my beachfront B&B very soon!! Mitch Keenan is truthful in everything he shares. It's a privileged life for those willing to 'go for it'!!

  • Isn't Mexico dangerous??

  • @ausSchengen .....NO. I'm moving back to Juarez soon. Besides.....nobody lives forever

  • I would like to get more info on education, as I have children that will be relocating with me.

  • hello, I love the video, at this point in my life I am looking for an egalitarian way of living, maybe marida can provide this. you mentioned "working" in mexico, but you did not explain. I have been under the impression that americans do not have the right to work in mexico... is this correct or not? can i live and work in mexico/merida?

  • @mikeandlaurie1979 My understanding is that you have to apply for a work permit, and that they are not easy to come by.

  • 15 more yrs im off to puerto vallarta,,,cant wait!!!

  • @MrManny7426 lucky i got a long way to go im only 20 hoping to retire at 50-55

  • @chuchorc dude! u can live in mexico with a pention of 600 a month..u can retire early

  • Ughhh I cant wait to move back to Merida

  • whites hate brown people in US, so whites in mexico get the fuck out of my country and out my continent, go back to europe, white people belong to europe.

  • @99cacahuate 1st- You're doing the same thing they did to us.

2nd- not all of them are that way, there's a reason why these ppl are down there.

3rd- maybe you should learn a little about psychology.

4th- If you have schooling you don't have to be in the U.S. I know this because of ppl in my family downthere.

  • @CAREBEAR293 you are not getting my point, I DON'T WASTE MY TIME WITH PEOPLE THAT CALLS IT SELF " latino-hispanic" AND BELIEVES IN WHITE MANS RELIGIONS. OPEN YOUR EYES, SINCE YOU KNOW ABOUT PSYCHOLOGY, DON'T LET THE WHITE MAN RULE YOUR LIFE.

  • @99cacahuate How do you know I'm not an athiest? Guess what I am? I'm a Mestizo person, meaning I have native and european blood(Italian to be exact), I'm a "mongrel" and I dont' care, I like both cultures. For your info my uncle is a full blooded Purepecha indian and he doesn't even say any of the stuff you're saying, so unless you grew in the boodocks and worked your butt of like a real native don't be talkig bad about your other half. Half of my family in Mexico have white skin.

  • @CAREBEAR293 i guess your are in an american college, well maybe you don't know this but, when it comes to history gringos wont teach the real history, you're to young to see whats really out there. THE OLDER YOU GET THE WISER YOU GET, AND WHEN YOU GET OLDER, THATS WHEN YOU REALLY WHANT TO GET TO YOUR TRUE ROOTS....MOST PEOPLE YOUR AGE ARE BRAIN WASH REALLY EASY, I HOPE PEOPLE YOUR AGE WILL OPEN THE EYES SOON BEFORE IT'S TOO LATE.

  • @99cacahuate That depends on the proffesor and the book he chooses to use. Right now I have a very open minded proffesor who has traveled the world and even been a proffesor in other countries. He speaks well of us and isn't even against illegal immigration(takes some guts to discuss such a topic infront of a class). I've had him for a history and ethnic studies class. He defends native Americans and all ppl. That's why you can't apply your comments to all whites. (comment 1)

  • @99cacahuate I am proud of being a Mexican and that's why I am going back to Mexico. My dad didn't even meant to end up here, he was actually an accountant in D.F. but some fam member talked him into comming to work here. After being here for a few years he just didn't feel confortable going back to being an accountant because it had been such a long time. He was even a soldier.I'm majoring in Pre-MEd because I want to be a doctor. (comment 2)

  • @99cacahuate My uncle is a doctor and he's done more than any of us who are here have done. He's even been to France. MY cousin who is an engineer now works in Rio de Janeiro. My other coousin is an important Ingeneer in Mex. he even got to meet the president because of that. All of the ppl in my family who have chosen to go to school are doing fine. The ppl who don't are the farmers, because instead of attending school they choose to illegally come over here (comment 3)

  • @99cacahuate If you really are proud of your heritage lets go back our ancestors' true native land and lets do what we have to do to make it better. Teach ppl we will only get ahead si no nos chingamos unos a otros(u know what I meant). Help kids who are homeless. I want to specialize in pediatrics and my dream is to help those kids out. We need to teach our kids good values. If we had good values we wouldn't have to worry about comming this way.

  • @99cacahuate I'm just going to finish schoool downthere so that I can work overthere. But don't be bitter, I've met plenty of ppl who think all mexicans are illegal but instead I feel bad for them because they're missing out on a lot because not evey person is the same and you can learn a lot from ppl. Racial supremacy is stupid dont' give into it.

  • @99cacahuate And for psychology, research "psychology of racism" (I'm majoring in pre-medicine, I think I would know, you have the exact same problem every other supremacist of every other race has). Racism is bullcrap!

  • We were in Algodonis last week for dental work and the mexicans are very friendly. It makes sense to live where people know how to live simply. This is something that many americans are being forced to learn.

  • It's funny how North Americans love to retire in Mexico and speak so fondly of it but you should hear what Mexicans actually say about Mexico, quite the interesting perspective. My advice to people who move to Mexico, use some common sense and know what you are getting yourself into, its not all wonderful and godly like as how some tourists like to put it. Of course things will be much cheaper thats a no brainer.

  • Nice video and good for you. I might visit Merida sometime soon.

  • If any of you are: Bilingual. good looking. American/Canadian/foreign, you can set up business in Mexico. and live. and be ADORED by the people. unfortunately, light skin is thought to be GODLY. If you have light skin, you made it!

  • @brianthebj there are plenty of white mexicans, why is it godly? half of my family has brown hair, brown eyes, like many whites in the U.S...

  • @brianthebj sad, but true..

  • I just love the music playing in the background! Anybody know who it is? This is a great vid. I'm interested in more information regarding the storm season.

  • @muktismom It's called Cumbia.

  • people reitre in mexico because everything is cheap, mexico is a wonderful place!

  • Hello McFly,

I mentioned the violence in our own cities. I know it's there. That's why I moved from Los Angeles to Utah and even here we have violence just not as much.

While not all, the majority of the recent big "tiroteos" are indeed happening along the border especially in and around Cd Juarez. Those are the incidents that the media likes to sensationalize.

I constantly have to defend our plan about moving South to friends and family who think it's happening in all of Mx. It gets old.

  • One more thing, you must know how many people in Mexico make their money off tourists?

I don't think it should be that way since Mexico has great natural resources. Unfortunately, just like here, their Gov is totally corrupt. I think Mexico could be rich on it's own accord if not for the corruption.

Anyway I think it's sad, between the fake, hyped up swine-flu and the sensationalized violence many people in the tourist industries are now suffering. That effects our own friends and family.

  • I live in Utah.

The majority of the drug violence in the news right now is along the border and it's much closer to me here, in Utah than it would be in Yucatan.

However, closer to me than the border is the violence of Los Angeles, Las Vegas and even Salt Lake city. Another things is all our food is shipped into our cities, not local street markets. Just imagine an oil induced food shortage.

We're not ready to move and my worry is schools for my kids and making money but maybe someday.

  • shut up, merida needs more people like him

  • i like merida, i like my friends and school, its a sweet place to live

  • yOU MISERABLE BULL torturers.. knock it off !

Get your stinkin swords OUT of those bulls and be HUMAN!

  • i so want to work in mexico in ICT, that would be fantastic, i love the culture, the music food, truly is a beautiful country and people :)

  • Thanks for the video. I wish I could talk to Mitch. I have been considering that move for a long time.

What kind of Work could a Gringo get down there if they speak Spanish yet not ready to retire? What about getting a long-term Visa or Dual Citizenship?

If I went with my kids how are the schools in the Mérida area? My wife is from Mx so we processed the papers for all my 5 children so they all have Mexican Citizenship as well. I guess I would be the only Mojado. lol
